Brian, from Fort Worth, TX, and I, from Blacksburg, VA, were in Aruba on vacation. He was with friends and I was with my mom and sister. I was a restaurant by the pool when he came up to me. He pointed to my college ring (that I wear ALL the time) and asked me if it was an engagement ring. I laughed and started talking about Virginia Tech.

My mom, sister and I had a dinner reservation I had to leave for. I started to walk away and he asked for my number. I wrote it on the back of receipt and wished him luck not getting it wet as I zoomed away.

He succeeded and texted me later. We hung out later that evening and the next day. I left the following day, and we both thought we would never see each other again.

However, we kept texting after we got home. He invited me to visit Texas a bout a month later.
