We first met in September 2014. It was a whirlwind time in life (changing jobs, moving, welcoming new babies into the family) but we still made time for each other. We met online, inspired by a mutual love of the outdoors and good beer. Our first date was at the Bistro in Hayward, where we received a very memorable serenade by an overzealous accordion player. The day after Luke left for a visit to Minnesota and it was several weeks until our next meeting - but that first night was enough to solidify the beginning of our new relationship.
Over the next years our bond has grown stronger sharing in each others lives and growing into a place within our families. Luke fit immediately into the Zalusky family as an able body to chop wood, hunt, fish, camp, and hike.
After two and a half years dating, Luke proposed during a hike on the panoramic trail in Yosemite. It was very well executed and a big surprise! Sarah had no idea the engagement was happening - even thinking that Luke had dropped something when getting down to propose - until the ring came out! Her first response was “what the heck!” followed by an immediate yes.
Since then we have been enjoying engaged life and looking forward to making it official when we celebrate together in September!
