Q + A
What Should I Wear?
The dress code is formal cocktail. This means that cocktail dresses, floor length dresses, suits and ties or sports jackets with no tie are all appropriate and welcome.
Additionally, women may choose to wear an English wedding accessory called a fascinator or hat! These headpieces are typically only worn for the daytime portion of the event. Read more about this wedding tradition here: https://www.brides.com/fascinator-royal-wedding-tradition-5072686
What Food and Drink options will be available?
Our Cocktail Reception will include passed Hors D'Oeuvres, a welcome drink and a cash bar. Dinner will feature a 4 course meal with your choice of main course (selections made day of) and hosted wine service followed by a cash bar.
Late night food & Snacks will be served at 11pm.
Please notify us of any dietary restrictions when RSVPing so that the castle can accommodate your restrictions.
Are there any events the day before the wedding?
We highly recommend booking into Hermione's Restaraunt or Restaraunt 1180 the evening before the wedding! Email info@kilkeacastle.ie to book. The castle recommends booking as soon as possible as June is their peak month.
We are also having two falconry sessions on the 7th, one at 2pm and another at 4pm.
The links to book are here:

The Keep Bar inside the castle will also be open to buy drinks until 11pm
When Should We Book Our Accomodation?
For Castle reservations, please book your room as soon as possible. To receive the discounted room rate, you must book at least 12 weeks in advance of the wedding. Visit Kilkeacastle.ie and click wedding stay to book. Our code is 154326
When Should I Plan to Arrive in Dublin?
Many of the wedding party will be arriving at Kilkea on Saturday June 7th and staying at the castle until the 10th.
If you are traveling from America, We recommend arriving in Dublin in advance of the 7th to adjust to the time zone, however we understand this will not be possible for everyone.
When Should We Book Our Flights?
We recommend buying flights no later than 3 months in advance; international flight prices will increase as the date draws closer. There are direct flights to Dublin through Aer Lingus, Delta and Jet Blue. Google flights has many features that help to choose the cheapest flights and you can set an alert for your dates so they email you when prices drop. This way you can get the best price possible.
How should we get to Kilkea from Dublin Airport?
We recommend using a Taxi or Public Transport when in Dublin City Center. Please Note that Uber and Lyft are limited - you may have better luck downloading and using the taxi app FreeNow to call a cab. The castle itself is on 180 acres of land and therefore is in a pretty remote area. Taxis and public transport are not as widely available and therefore we recommend booking transport in advance especially if you need to get to the airport via taxi
Alternatively, car rentals can be booked in advance and picked up at Dublin Airport. If you can drive a manual, your car will be significantly cheaper. Car rentals are definitely a better option if you plan to explore Ireland prior to/after the wedding.
What is the currency in Ireland?
Ireland uses the euro. Planning for the currency on your trip is key to avoiding spending unnecessary extra money. We recommend downloading the app Revolut using our referral link: https://revolut.com/referral/?referral-code=sasharg4y!FEB2-24-AR-US
We both use this app when traveling to not only help us save for trips but also exchange our money to any foreign currency and lock in a good exchange rate. Currency exchange booths and your standard bank usually have poor exchange rates. We highly recommend ordering the physical card incase you end up in a location that doesn't accept Apple Pay.
If you plan to use your standard US bank card make sure you are aware of any foreign transaction fees in advance of your trip or plan to order Euros from your bank. Using your regular bank card will make your payments subject to fluctuating exchange rates.
Are Children Invited to the Wedding? Can I bring a plus one?
Only those named on invitations are invited to our wedding due to venue limitations. Regretfully, we can only have the children included in our wedding party or immediate family at the wedding and reception.
