Savannah and Darrell met in Birmingham, Alabama the summer of 2022. After receiving her undergrad degree from UW-Madison, Savannah moved to Birmingham to get a Master's Degree in Nursing from UAB. Darrell had received his undergrad degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and had worked his way into a management position at Motion Industries. When they met, Savannah was working as a nurse at Children's Hospital and Darrell was working towards a Master's of Business Administration at UAB.

On their first date, Savannah and Darrell enjoyed happy hour cocktails and dinner at SoHo Social in Homewood, AL. At the beginning of their date, Savannah wasn’t sure if Darrell was interested in her (Darrell had called her “coach, buddy, and big dog” within the first hour) but by the end of dinner, neither of them wanted to part ways. Savannah and Darrell walked to a nearby bar and continued their conversations, realizing how similar they both were. When Darrell dropped off Savannah that night, they both knew that they had found a special person and have been inseparable ever since.

Fast forward to December 15th, 2023, the couple was in Chicago visiting friends (Savannah was determined to enjoy some winter weather!). After weeks of consulting with family and Savannah’s friends, Darrell had planned the most thoughtful proposal. Darrell had been acting strange all day and after making a loop of Navy Pier, he dropped to one knee and asked Savannah to marry him. Savannah tearfully agreed, and then was surprised to find that Darrell had arranged for her best friends to arrive right after the proposal! They celebrated with champagne followed by an incredible dinner along the Chicago River. They both couldn’t have asked for a better night!
