Our Story

Savannah + Matthew

Her POV: E.T. Booth Middle School, 2013. I was in 7th grade and Matthew was in 8th! His long, blonde Justin Bieber hair just did something for me. I was his biggest fan girl. I can remember sneaking into the 8th grade hall to go to the “bathroom” or going to my basketball coach’s room who just so happened to be one of his teachers, just so I could see him. There was one problem at the time - he had a girlfriend. Although I would still look for him around school and we had each other on all social media, I stepped back. I ended up transferring middle schools at the start of 8th grade and we didn’t reconnect until July 20, 2018. I was at the movie theater with my sister watching the new Mama Mia 2 and at the end, I posted a picture of the movie on my Snapchat story captioned “Nobody go see this movie it’s terrible”. Minutes later, out of the blue, I got a notification from Matthew Corcoran. He replied to my story with “Don’t worry I won’t, I would have nobody to go with anyways”, I replied, “Oh haha, that sucks”. Somehow in his small cry for attention, one thing led to another, and we agreed to meet up and hang out that night. My sister took me home, I got in my car and went to Matthew’s to go pick him up and hang out at the lake. We ended up catching up and really hitting things off, and have been inseparable ever since. From sneaking around our parents to see each other, having to bring coolant on every date because Matthew’s car would continuously overheat, graduating high school and college together, and building careers, we have been by each other’s side every step of the way. We moved in together in 2018 just months after dating, crazy I know, but then we bought a house together in November 2020 with our two pups, Cooper and Kane. I couldn’t be more proud of us. Although he can be shy when you first meet him, Matthew is the type of guy who would instantly give you the shirt off his back, had you endured hardship you need guidance through. He is kind, gentle, and has a servant’s heart. My favorite thing about Matthew is how he encourages, celebrates, and is genuinely happy and wants the best for everybody. He is so slow and easy-going which constantly reminds me to slow down and enjoy each season of life. I am so excited for our next season of getting married and continuing to build a future with and for each other!

His POV: just a few edits…. In July 2018, my dad and I went to eat lunch at a local mom and pop restaurant. While we were eating, I noticed a server that caught my eye, I knew I had known her from somewhere and it was driving me crazy figuring out how. It eventually came to me that it was Savannah and I was waiting for my time to shine, so, when I saw her Mama Mia post, I had to find my way in. I didn’t know it then, but that night was the start of the rest of my life, cheesy, but very true. Our relationship progressed quickly, I found an old message from September 21, 2018, where Savannah sent me a picture of an engagement ring and my reply was “We can look one day”. Well.. 5 years later, that ‘one day’ happened and now we are planning our wedding! I think in every young relationship you quickly fall in love then dream and talk about rings and a wedding, knowing it realistically probably wouldn’t happen. Over the years, my view of Savannah has changed from that hot 17-year-old server to my future wife and mother of our children. She has a unique way of holding me to a higher standard and pushes me daily to become a better version of myself, for her and our future. Savannah is the most charismatic person and always puts others before herself, she is my pride and joy. My favorite thing about Savannah is how fun she is! She is ALWAYS the life of the party and can have a good time anywhere with anyone. I can’t wait to marry this girl!!!
