It all starts with Wyatt being a BYU lacrosse player who, one evening, took on a game of indoor soccer and blew out his knee! This injury kept him out for the next season of lacrosse and caused him to fall behind in registering for his classes for the upcoming fall semester. In the struggle of recovering and registering for classes, Wyatt last-minute signed up for courses and had to take the needed American Heritage class offered at the BYU Salt Lake Center.

Savannah, having just started to get back into the school grind after a year off for her mission, returned to continue her education at the BYU Salt Lake Center, also taking American Heritage. She was living at her grandma's house in PG, Utah, which led her to take the train, getting off at the Vineyard stop. Wyatt was also living in PG at the time and would get on the same train.

Weeks went by with Savannah noticing this limping, brace-wearing boy getting out of his car extra early to make it in time to walk the long path to the train. She later realized they were in the same class. Eventually, they started talking on the train rides home. Wyatt, thinking he was quick to tease Savannah on the rides, was asked by Savannah for his number, with the intent to invite him to join her and some friends if they happened to do something fun soon. Savannah didn’t text Wyatt for two weeks.

Meanwhile, Wyatt was disappointed and tried to move past it, even offering his buddy to "hit her up" because she never reached out. After those two weeks, she finally sent him a text: "there is no way you live this close to me" as he had followed her in the exact direction of her house. He replied, "Is this the grump?" (because when the teasing goes a little too far, she can get grumpy) as he turned at the last second away from her neighborhood as he lives 3 minutes up the road.

Later, she invited him over for a cookie… another long story. They chatted for three hours about everything, and from that night on, Wyatt was determined to figure out how he could get her to hang out with him again. They ended up going on a cabin trip that weekend, and the rest is history!
