Our Story

God's Perfect Timing

Every love story is sweet, but ours truly feels like God’s perfect timing.

After the world began to settle down from COVID, Jacob started spending more time in Jacksonville. With family at Jacksonville church of Christ, he began visiting the Monday night devotionals for JSU students. These were nights filled with laughter, friendship, and faith. Savannah grew up in that same congregation, and those nights were some of their favorite memories from that season of life. She loved meeting new people and making everyone feel welcome.

Jacob says he was “just coming to make friends,” but from the very beginning, something felt different. There was a calmness about him that stood out. Life at the time was full of movement. Savannah balancing school, jobs, and student organizations, and Jacob managing long drives, studying, and clinical hours—but somehow, everything made sense when we were together.

We’ve always balanced each other without even trying. Jacob brings peace and steadiness to Savannah’s busy world, and she brings laughter and energy to his. What started as a small conversation at the JCSC devo turned into something that felt like home.

Our relationship is built on laughter, faith, and a deep appreciation for each other. Looking back, it’s so easy to see God’s hand in every phase of our lives. Every decision, every change in direction, and every little “coincidence” led us to each other.

Today, we still worship at the same church where it all began, forever thankful that God’s timing was—and still is—absolutely perfect.

College Times

College was where it all began. Those years were full of busy schedules, long days, and learning how to make time for each other even when life felt nonstop. Savannah was deep in campus life with classes, jobs, and student organizations. Jacob was working hard in JSU’s Respiratory Therapy Program, balancing school, clinicals, and work.

Even with our busy schedules, we always made time for each other. Getting to know one another felt so natural, like picking up a friendship that had already been written into our story. We were amazed to find how connected our lives already were. Our moms went to high school together, and we’d been at many of the same church events growing up. It’s easy to see now that God brought us together at exactly the right time.

Life After College

After graduation came the next big chapter—real jobs, real bills, and real life. Savannah started her career at JSU, a place she loved and thought she’d never leave. Jacob finished his Respiratory Therapy degree and then jumped straight into his career. He works at multiple hospitals from Gadsden to Birmingham (keeping the roads hot, as always). Right when they had both found balance, Savannah accepted a position at Oxford High School teaching Business. It was an unexpected change, but one she’s so thankful for. We both work with youth and love serving others. It is something that makes us so perfect for each other.

Our years after college brought a lot of change—some of it beautiful and some of it hard, especially 2023. We both lost our grandfathers, two incredible men who helped shape our lives. Jacob’s Pop passed away in June after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Savannah’s Grandaddy passed away suddenly in November from lung cancer. Those months were painful, but they drew us closer together and reminded us of the importance of faith, family, and showing up for the people you love.

In between it all, we made some of our favorite memories. We spent a lot of time with Halo, who quickly became like our own. From slumber parties and pumpkin patches to zoo trips and Christmas lights, she’s been a huge part of our story and our hearts. She keeps life fun and full of energy. She’ll always have a place in our story.

The Proposal

December 23rd, the day she (and everyone else) had been waiting for.

We had talked about marriage early on and knew we’d found the person we wanted to spend forever with. Savannah may have been ready a little sooner (no surprise there), but Jacob wanted every detail of life to be just right.

By December of 2024, Savannah had a feeling it was coming. The signs were all there. Jacob told her he had planned an anniversary date, which was suspicious in itself because he doesn’t usually plan things that far in advance. We got dressed up and had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. Somewhere between the rest stop detour, the fancy clothes, and the family “Christmas party” being scheduled for that night, Savannah knew something was up.

Even though she had her suspicions, the moment Jacob got down on one knee was still one of the sweetest, most emotional moments of our lives. It was simple, thoughtful, and so perfectly us. It was full of love, joy, and pure excitement for the life ahead.

Building Our Forever

Now, we’re in the sweetest season yet.

We bought our first home this summer and are dreaming of all the ways we’ll make it ours. From planning how to decorate to imagining the meals we’ll cook (mostly Savannah’s department), we can’t wait to fill it with laughter, love, and memories. Wedding planning has been a full adventure on its own, and through it all, Jacob has stayed laid-back and patient while Savannah keeps focused on making sure every detail is just right with the help of her mom and sisters.

This season of life is busy and beautiful all at once. Between work, faith, family, and wedding planning, there’s never a dull moment, but we wouldn’t trade it for anything. We know this is only the beginning of our next big adventure, and we’re so thankful for the story God has written for us so far.
