The year was 2020. The world was shut down, and Savannah and Josh were both working from home with their families. Savannah moved to Royal Oak to get closer to her work, meet new people, and socialize in whatever way the world allowed. This, luckily, brought her to a backyard social-distanced bonfire with her new roommate, where she'd meet so many of her now closest friends, including Josh!

Josh was visiting his friend's house for these backyard gatherings regularly, a wonderful excuse to sit, have a drink, talk about video games, life, and work, and get some much-needed social interaction in.

Savannah and Josh attended a few more of these gatherings as the weeks went on, and even had a couple long one-on-one conversations, but like many modern love stories, they were never more than friends until they came across each other on a dating app!

When Savannah recognized the cute boy from her new friend group on her phone, she said "why not!" and swiped right. A few days later, Josh recognized the girl on his screen and thought he'd give it a shot! After some (hilarious) missed messages and days of both of them thinking they had been rejected, they finally connected and began messaging non-stop. They swiftly scheduled a date at a restaurant they were luckily able to sit down in at the time.

On July 1, the two met for dinner and drinks, and not a second went by without exciting conversation. When the restaurant closed, they were both having such a good time talking that they didn't want the date to end! They stayed together, talking in Savannah's backyard, until 3 in the morning! The spark was real, and the two of them had never met someone who they had so much in common with and could talk so easily with. From that day on, they fell in love, and no "single summer" or global pandemic could stop it. And the rest, my friends, is history.
