This story begins freshman year of college at the 2012 Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas, Nevada. Savannah and a few of her college girlfriends drove down from Boise for winter break and to see Boise State play the University of Washington. One of Savannah's friends happened to be staying with Nathan and his family for the night. Savannah and her friend walked to their car at halftime to move the friends luggage to Nathan's car. Just like that, Savannah met Nathan and his adorable little sister, and now bridesmaid, Jonni. Quick hellos were exchanged, and life carried on. Fast forward to sophomore year of college, and Nathan and Savannah have another chance meeting, this time at a Macklemore concert. Once again, quick hellos were said and nothing more.
Fast forward again; it’s junior year and the couple meets for a third time. This time it’s a get-together with some of Savannah's roommates and Nathan's roommates. At this point, the couple knew of each other, had seemingly a million mutual friends, but never said more than hellos. This night was different. Certain friends had, to put it nicely, planned getting these two together. The group of friends hung out, cooked dinner together and laughed for hours. When it came time to cleaning the dishes, Savannah entered the kitchen and began to wash dishes. Nathan came in shortly after and told her she wasn't allowed to. If you know these two, Savannah hates being told what she can and can't do, and Nathan must always have the last word. Nathan flirtatiously insisted on guest not doing the dishes and that he would do the cleaning. Whether this was Nathan's attempt at a pickup line, the world may never know, but it sure did work. What started as a playful argument about who would wash the dishes, turned into a night of nonstop conversation, and the next several days planning to see each other. They spend the next weeks going to concerts, playing flag football, partying, studying for finals, helping Savannah heal after surgery, and eventually lead to their first date. Nathan played a full day of going to the zoo, dinner at Grimaldi's, and going to the movies where they saw Fast and Furious 7 (even though Nathan hadn't seen the first 6). On 5/10/15, Savannah & Nathan drove her truck up in the Boise foothills to gaze at the stars, and that's when Nathan finally asked Savannah to be his girlfriend.
The couple loves to reflect on their first-time meeting, and while Savannah clearly remembers meeting that cute guy and his little sister at the football game in Las Vegas, Nathan's recollection of their first-time meeting is not seeing a cute girl at the football game. In fact, he doesn't remember meeting her that day, AT ALL! Nathan recalls meeting Savannah for the first time at his house junior year of college during a party...
The universe seemingly tried to get these two together several times, but ultimately it took the right timing and many mutual friends to get these two to realize they were meant to be. Neither of them would change a thing about how they finally met- they just might have differing views on how it happened!
