Savannah and Hartley first met at youth conference in South Carolina in 2016. Hartley caught Savannah's eye when he sat in front of her during a devotional in the stadium. Later that night at the dance, Hartley couldn't help but notice Savannah from across the room. She was stunning. He knew he had to ask her to dance, but Savannah beat him to it and asked him first. The first song they danced to was Hailey Reinhart's version of "Can't Help Falling in Love With You". (Very cliché, we KNOW.) They danced with each other the rest of the night and exchanged numbers.
Unfortunately, they lived in different states (Savannah lived in Idaho, and Hartley lived in South Carolina), so they lost touch. About a year later, Hartley called Savannah while he was at college, just to catch up. They wound up talking on the phone for hours that day, and every day after that for several months. There was no official DTR, Hartley told Savannah he loved her one day, and Savannah realized she felt the same way.
Savannah visited Hartley after Christmas of 2017 and they went on their first date. It lasted 12 hours! Somehow it still wasn't long enough. They went to the lake, Zaxbys, ice rink, movies, downtown, and finally dinner at Jim 'n Nick's.
They traveled back and forth often for the next few years until Hartley eventually moved to Idaho. One of their favorite memories together is a cruise they went on during spring break of 2020 to the Bahamas. They looked forward to going to the comedy club every night, eating unlimited food and ice cream, and enjoying the perfect weather.
Hartley proposed June 12, 2021, by recreating their first date. He asked her to marry him at the lake, and evidently, she said YES!
Hartley and Savannah's future plans for the next few years include finishing school to become a physical therapist, building their real estate business, and starting a family.
We are so excited to celebrate the beginning of our forever with you at our wedding in April!
