Josh and I were introduced through my best friend, Kirstin. A few weeks later, Josh drove to Clemson to take me on our first date which was at Backstreets, my favorite bar at the time. Weekends like this continued and Josh made it a point to hangout with me every weekend that followed our first date. Our Sunday tradition was going to total wine and picking out one of the “top-rated” wines and splitting it while door-dashing dinner. Sitting on the balcony, drinking that wine and talking about anything and everything are some of my favorite memories with him.
Josh proposed in December at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, a place we both love even more now. I really wanted to go at Christmas time to see the gingerbread houses and drink hot chocolate by the fire. Josh knew this so I couldn’t figure out why he was so persistent on going outside as soon as we got there, after he proposed on the balcony outside it all made sense. He made me feel so special that whole weekend and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
To know Josh is to love him, his humor and outgoing personality are only two things that made me drawn to him since our first night meeting. I can’t wait to keep building our life together in Greenville as his wife!
-Savannah
Savannah and I met through our mutual friend Kirstin. She invited Savannah and others to Greenville for the weekend and wanted me to join them on their night out. I was reluctant to go because I wasn’t feeling well. However, something told me I should go meet them to go out for the night. Fortunately, I did and met Savannah. A few weeks later we met again at her birthday party which was back in Greenville. We hit it off from there and began spending every weekend together as she was in Clemson and I was in Greenville during the week. I would make a point to plan something for the upcoming weekend when we would separate each weekend so she always had plans to come see me.
From the great dates we had at sassafras, many brunches, and Sunday nights on the balcony talking, to the awkward date at nose dive and even me having to adjust to Palmer (if you know you know), it always felt like something was special. After a couple months I decided to ask Savannah to be my girlfriend, the best thing I’ve ever had happen to me. I felt so lucky and proud to say Savannah was mine. We continued to date for a couple years and I decided to commit to marrying Savannah, I had already known I was going to marry her from when we started dating because it just felt right. I took her on a trip to the Grove park inn during Christmas of 2022 and proposed to her there, fortunately, I was able to overcome my massive amount of anxiety and pull it all off as a surprise to her. I’m so excited to spend our lives together.
