James: Scotland and I met in 2022 at North Central University. I had come as a new student, and signed up to work in the housekeeping department. On my first shift, I met my boss, Scotland Janich. We often spent long portions of our shifts talking because we worked so fast, but we had no further interest in each other at the time.

Scotland: I always thought James was hard working. I loved during our shifts when I would always catch him singing while working, but I never said anything. He was someone I could go to when work was intense, and we always joked around.

James: It wasn’t until the end of April of 2023, when we had a department outing, that I started to take interest in Scotland. She has such a great sense of humor. We hung out for much of the outing.

Scotland: During that outing, I was starting to test out if I had feelings for James. I made sure to sit by him in the car on the way, and I made sure to have conversations the entire night with him. I even tried to sit with him at the restaurant, but someone took my spot!

We didn’t stop talking after that night, eventually going on dates and spending quality time together. We became official on June 7th, 2023. Through hiking, many sushi dates, and other adventures, it became clearer and clearer that we were meant for each other. We got engaged on July 16th, 2024, and we’re so excited for what God has in store for our life.
