Like all good modern day romances, Scott and Steph's began on an app! Steph was visiting home in Tualatin and interviewing for medical residencies, and Scott was new to Portland and finishing his first semester of grad school. Burnt out on dating apps, Scott relinquished control of his Hinge account to Ali (bridesmaid) during a 49ers game. Remarkably Steph was within his five-mile search radius, and "Scott" was quick to match with her! They went out for coffee just three days later, and there was an instant connection. Steph broke things off as she prepared to finish medical school in Southern California, but a timely Christmas Day text from Scott brought them back together. It was clear they had found something special, and they fell in love over the next 12 days before Steph left for school. Several visits, dozens of letters, and a million phone calls later, Steph moved to Seattle for her pediatric residency at Seattle Children's Hospital while Scott finished in-person classes in Portland, just a train ride away. On October 21st, after 10 months of dating, Scott got down on one knee in Steph's parents' backyard and popped the question. So many family and friends contributed to coordinating and keeping the surprise. And, through tears and laughter, she said yes! Scott and Steph are currently living together in Seattle and enjoying no longer being a whole state apart. They are excited to be starting their lives together and feel incredibly blessed by the support and encouragement of their community. They cannot wait to celebrate and say “I Do” this summer!

Explore Lake Oswego! The venue is in L.O., where Steph grew up and where the couple loves to spend their time when in Oregon. It boasts great walking, shopping, and dining. Here are a few personal recommendations: Dining: Holy Taco, Nicolettas, Salt and Straw, Chuckie Pies, Five Spice Drinking: Beso Wine Bar, Domaine Serene Wine Lounge, The Gemini Bar Out and About: Kayaking/paddle boarding at George Rogers Park, walk the Lake Loop, shop in downtown Lake Oswego, visit the local Farmers Market________________________________________________________________________

Explore Portland! Portland is a fun and vibrant city with plenty to see, do, and eat. Here are a few ideas to get you started: Visit Powell's City of Books - the world's largest independent bookstore (and one of Scott and Steph's favorite spots)! Ride the Aerial Tram for stunning views of the city. You can then walk across Tilikum Crossing, Portland's pedestrian bridge, for views of the Willamette! Hike the trails in Forest Park, one of the largest urban forests and a favorite for dogs and humans alike. Eat at the local food trucks, many located at The Cart Blocks downtown. Shop and dine on NW 23rd to find local vendors (and another Salt and Straw!).________________________________________________________________________

For Kids and Families For our smallest guests we recommend the Portland Zoo, the OMSI museum, and any of the many amazing local donut and ice cream shops! Our favorite local parks:George Rogers: water access, kayak rentals, playground.Tualatin City Park: playground and off-leash dog area.Browns Ferry: kayak and canoe rentals.
