Scott & Daphne

June 26–26, 2020 • Boothbay, ME

Our Story

Daphne and Scott met in the winter of 2018, on a first date partly remembered as an exercise in Daphne’s enthusiasm for discussion of all things Maine - even its Mytilus edulis (blue mussel) populations. Fortunately for Scott, the event has also endured as a moment of shared laughs, affection, and rowdy conversation.

The two quickly fell in love - spending their days exploring New England’s outdoors and cities, and nights socializing with friends over dinner, babysitting nephews, or relaxing with a book, movie, or puzzle. After moving into their Brookline apartment together - largely so Daphne could be closer to Scott’s dog Lucy - the two grew ever closer as they began to build their life together.

One late Winter evening in 2020, Scott proposed to (a possibly suspecting but off her guard) Daphne as she settled in after a long day of classes. With a resounding “yes” they both rejoiced - excited to take on the world together as they entered Springtime.

Cue the Pandemic - and, needless to say, Daphne and Scott found themselves locked-down inside that same Brookline apartment. As June arrived, and the self isolation hadn’t broken their will to spend the rest of their lives together, they decided the timely and prudent thing to do would be moving forward with their lives and marriage however possible.

As it happened, the two realized that both sets of parents would be in Maine, and appropriately quarantined, one late weekend in June. Although siblings, extended family, and friends could not attend such an occasion, Daphne and Scott proceeded to quickly plan a COVID era backyard wedding at the Morello’s house in Boothbay, Maine.

On June 26, 2020, after a week (singular is not a typo) of planning, the wedding pieces aligned with a perfect sunny day. Parents arrived, champagne toasts were had, a brief but lovely wedding ceremony ensued, and a celebratory lunch brought it to a close (enhanced by more champagne, oysters, and wedding cake surprises from the siblings).

Daphne and Scott would like to thank all of you who have played such an important part in their lives both separate and together. A day will come where they can celebrate their joyful marriage in person with each of you they hold so close to their hearts. In the meantime, their COVID-era wedding in June was a wonderful success, and Daphne and Scott are incredibly happy to be moving forward in their lives together.
