It begins … a boy and a girl, lonely and looking for someone on Tinder. Yes, Tinder.

December 7th, 2018. Scott sees a profile for a girl named Veronica. She’s pretty, she’s in the IT industry too, seems like there’s a few things in common! So, he swipes not just right, but up. That’s a “Super Like” for those not versed in Tinder, which is totally fair. Veronica sees a cute boy, in IT like her and decides to swipe right. Thus began weeks of messages, phone calls that ran all evening, and eventually, meeting in person.

Little did we know it would be the start of an amazing adventure! Road trips to Akron every Monday night, where Veronica was working. Drinking wine on Scott’s apartment patio on folding chairs. Countless trips to Kentucky on the Bourbon Trail. Enjoying each other’s company, and falling in love the whole time until they moved in together near the end of 2019.

Everything was on a perfect trajectory. Vee’s new project would have her in Northern Kentucky on the regular, dreams of time together, and with friends and family there, abounded. Then, the world went sideways and COVID shut everything down (including work travel). Suddenly, just months into living together, they were socially distancing together, and a funny thing happened. It got even better. Not only did they work well living together, they thrived. Families slowly merged and grew together, and Scott and Vee survived some of the strangest times of their lives even stranger than before. The fun face masks didn’t hurt either!

Fast forward to October of 2022, 3,500 miles away in Anchorage Alaska, visiting Jacob at his current Army home, seeing a beautiful part of our world. Still maybe slightly anxious after seeing a giant moose on the road ten minutes before, Scott got on his knee and proposed to Vee, who had no idea it was coming. We would not be telling this story had she not said yes!

A little over a year later, quite a bit closer to home … about 3,499 miles closer, to be exact, in front of friends, family, and memorials for those who had left us way too soon, Scott and Vee said I do and began their life, betrothed to each other forever.

When you see us in July, it will have been five and a half years since a couple of Tinder swipes led to two people to find their soulmates, to a new blended family of trumpet playing, military brats, and both kids and grandkids all living in, well, mostly harmonious fashion. We’re honored to have all of you, our family, our friends we’ve made through our shared interests, hobbies, and passions. The people who surround us every day and remind us that we’ve made the best decision of our lives.
