We want this to be a 1950s-themed wedding. Think elegant '50s! What does that mean? Well, what it doesn't mean is kitschy, soda-shop, stereotypical 50s. No polka dots and poodle skirts. But it also means no Electric Slide or Cupid Shuffle (sorry). We want something resembling a traditional 50s style. That doesn't mean you need to come dressed up, acting like it's the 50s, but the theming, decor, and music will reflect it. We know not everyone will love the music choices, so if you don't want to dance, that's okay! But we're trying to have a wedding that best reflects us as a couple.

Unfortunately, the Zoo is technically closed during the ceremony and reception, so you'll need to stick to locations as directed. The animals need rest after all. That said, feel free to visit earlier in the day or any other day of the year!

Yes! You'll need to park in the Discovery Center parking lot, located through the South Gate at 3300 Golf Rd, Brookfield, IL 60513. There will also be a free shuttle provided from the Four Points by Sheraton in Westchester where we have a room block for guests.

It's a little bit of both! The ceremony will take place outdoors near the Giraffes at Habitat Africa, the cocktail hour will be indoors at Great Bear Wilderness, and the reception will be held at Swan Pavilion, an indoor event space at the Zoo. Fear not, a tram service will be available to take guests between each location.

Formal. You don't need a tux, but please wear something nice! If you wear jeans, the animals will be very disappointed (and so will we). As we said earlier, you don't have to dress in anything particularly related to the 1950s, and we specifically do not want you to wear anything that's gimmicky in relation to the decade. That said, if you want to wear a formal outfit from the era, that's fantastic!

Due to limited space at the Zoo venues, we can only host those specifically named on invitations, which precludes children from attending, unfortunately.

Yes! However, we kindly request that the ceremony be completely unplugged. After that, take as many photos and videos at the cocktail hour and reception as you'd like.
