🇪🇸: Sean disfrutaba de los deportes con su abuelo (Papa) y siendo cariñoso con su hermano pequeño, Sam y con su hermana mayor, Natalie. | 🇺🇸: Sean enjoyed watching sports with his grandfather (Papa) and being a loving brother to both his little brother, Sam, and his older sister, Natalie.

🇪🇸: Aunque crecieron separados por casi 9.000 km, el destino quiso que Sean decidiera estudiar un semestre en el extranjero en Sevilla, durante sus años universitarios. Vivía en la calle Pureza y, aunque no aprendió mucho español, dominó el arte de cocinar tortilla de patatas con su abuela española (Manoli), y conoció a Eu en uno de los lugares más icónicos de la ciudad: el puente de Triana. | 🇺🇸: While they grew up almost 6,000 miles apart, as fate would have it, Sean decided to study one semester abroad in Seville during his university years. He lived on Pureza Street, and while he didn’t learn much Spanish, he mastered the art of cooking tortilla de patatas with his Spanish grandma (Manoli) and met Eu at one of the most iconic places in the city: Triana Bridge.

🇪🇸: Tras volver a EE. UU., Sean y Eu pasaron un año separados. Posteriormente, se verían en contadas ocasiones durante las vacaciones. A pesar de la incertidumbre de su futuro, cada viaje servía para que se reafirmaran en su decisión de estar juntos. Era una cuestión de tiempo que sus caminos se cruzaran de nuevo. | 🇺🇸: After Sean returned to the U.S., Sean and Eu spent one year apart, only seeing each other on a few holidays but talking often on the phone. Despite the uncertainty of their future, every trip and every call reaffirmed their decision to be together.

🇪🇸: Pasaron tres años hasta que lograron trazar un plan para terminar juntos. Pero, mientras tanto, sentían que debían poner por delante sus carreras profesionales. | 🇺🇸: Three years passed by before they could figure out a plan to be together. But, in the meantime, they felt that they had to focus on their respective professional careers.

🇪🇸: Desde el principio, Sean y Eu contaron con el apoyo de sus familias. | 🇺🇸: From the very beginning, Sean and Eu had the support from their families.

🇪🇸: Tras graduarse en Luther College, Sean se mudó a Washington DC, donde trabajó para la iglesia episcopaliana y, posteriormente, para un congresista. Mientras tanto, Eu seguía estudiando medicina. | 🇺🇸: After graduating from Luther College, Sean moved to DC, where he worked for the Episcopal Church and later for his hometown Congressman from Iowa. In the meantime, Eu was still studying medicine.

🇪🇸: Durante la pandemia del COVID Sean teletrabajaba y Eu tuvo que volver a casa, dejando a medias su Erasmus en Florencia. Tras ocho meses de espera, las fronteras volvieron a abrirse, Sean dejó su trabajo en Washington DC y se reencontraron en Bruselas. Sean había sido aceptado en la Universidad KU Leuven para estudiar un máster. | 🇺🇸: During the COVID pandemic, Sean worked remotely, and Eu had to head back home, not being able to complete her year abroad in Florence, Italy. After an eight-month wait, the borders reopened, Sean left his job in DC, and they met each other again in Brussels, Belgium. Sean had been accepted into a graduate study program at KU Leuven University.

🇪🇸: Mientras, Eu se graduó en medicina, preparó un intenso examen para acceder a la especialidad y consiguió plaza en Madrid como residente en Medicina Física y Rehabilitación. Se mudaron a la capital, pudiendo, por primera vez, comprobar cómo era convivir realmente juntos. | 🇺🇸: In the meantime, Eu graduated from medical school and prepared for her entry exam, which ultimately qualified her for a physician resident position in physical medicine and rehabilitation. They moved to Spain’s capital and lived together alone for the first time.
