YES! Treat it like any other big city. Locals are nice and want the best for tourist but there is always a bad apple in the bunch. Things to be aware of is: - Scams from venders in the street. - Pick Pocketing if you go out to a club. - Always ask for a price before you commit to anything - NEGOTIATE!! Everyone bargains.

The earlier the better. In our experience, while fantastic deals can pop up at any time, the best time to book a flight (what we call the Goldilocks Window) is 1–3 months ahead for domestic (Colombia) travel and 4–8 months ahead for international travel.
