Selene and Jensen first crossed paths in the summer of 2021. At the time, Selene was still in a relationship that her friend, Kaidence, wasn’t fond of. One hot afternoon, while preparing to go kayaking, Kaidence turned to her and said, “You need to meet someone.” They drove to Mathers Market, where Jensen was finishing his shift. Kaidence introduced them, and though there wasn’t an instant spark, something was different. Jensen joined them for kayaking. They hardly spoke to each other. Lol.

Months later, Selene was single. At a bonfire hosted by her friend Stephanie, she unexpectedly ran into Jensen again. This time, they spent the whole night talking while the party buzzed around them. That conversation sparked something between them. They began hanging out more—walking to class together, texting constantly. Jensen even asked Selene for relationship advice, unaware of the feelings slowly growing between them.

Selene eventually confided in Stephanie about her feelings, scared of ruining their friendship. Stephanie reassured her that Jensen liked her too and that they were perfect for each other. A few weeks later, Selene gathered the courage to tell Jensen how she felt. To her relief, he felt the same. Still, they agreed to take things slow and spend the summer focusing on healing and their faith in Jesus.

Despite staying “just friends,” they grew even closer over the summer, constantly messaging and getting to know each other. They finally saw each other again on Selene’s birthday hike, where their chemistry was undeniable. By August, they both felt called to start a Bible study club at Thurston Highschool. Though the club had a rough start, they persevered, and the experience brought them closer, strengthening their bond through faith and shared purpose.

This was just the beginning of their story.
