The Story of Us

Collin and I have been friends for as long as I can remember. From FFA adventures, to late night drives in high school, and long phone conversations while he was driving home from college to catch up on each others lives. Collin has always been a person I could talk to for hours (even if he was going on and on about crops and farming). Our lives got busy as we both were finishing our degrees, starting our careers and planning for our futures we always picked up right where we left off laughing about old stories and catching up.

Winter of 2021 I had been helping Collin more on the farm, we had been spending more time together working cows and him going with me on all call emergencies at work. A lot of people close to us had questioned if there was more then just us being friends and how we would be so good together. At that point the thought had not crossed my mind. We were both just close friends, doing things we enjoyed together.

I remember a late night I had to go to work for an emergency and Collin had went with me. It started snowing pretty hard on our way home and Collin drove me home. When we got there I insisted on us making a snowman. I remember making a snowman, a snowball fight and feeling happier than I had felt in as long as I could remember. As soon as Collin left that night he sent me a text, asking if I had ever thought of us being more then friends.... All I could think was this was going to ruin our frienship and he was my absolute best friend. Little did I know that silly question lead to me dating my best friend, a lot of laughs and happiness and the best thing to happen to me. While some days I think he just keeps me around for a free farm hand. Haha. I am so thankful our friendship has turned into this, and I thank God for blessing us with each other. I can't wait to see where our journey goes. - Serena

Collin's Version

Serena and I have been friends for as long as I can remember, but there is one memory that always

comes to mind at the start of our friendship. Serena, Brooke and I were hauling hogs to Flemingsburg to

have them processed for the FFA Fall Feast. Serena drove us to the packing house, and after a dozen

attempts to back up, she passed the keys off to Brooke. After 10 minutes of attempting to back up and

many colorful words, they handed the keys to 14-year-old Collin. Within a couple tries I had the trailer

backed into the loadout.

Throughout school, Serena and I spent many hours riding around in her blue Focus screaming to Garth

Brooks and George Straight. I couldn’t begin to count the number of trips we made to Gold Star and the

conversations we had about the farm, our futures, and everything in between. As time went on, we

each went our separate ways, but every time we talked it was as if we were still as close as ever.

After graduating college and moving back to Felicity, Serena and I picked up right where we had left off.

We began to hang out, played cards with Molly and Montana, and going on Emergency calls together.

Depending on who you ask, you will probably get different answers about when the two of us became

more than friends. Our relationship truly started after we went to the vet clinic one snowy night for a c-

section. When we got back to her house we went outside to play in the snow, making a snowman. That

night I asked Serena if she had ever thought about being more than friends. I knew that this would

either make our friendship very awkward, or be the start of something special.

If you ask Serena, she will probably tell you that I only keep her around as a free farmhand. Although she

has put in many hours helping at the farm, she is so much more than a farmhand to me. Serena is the

most kind-hearted and caring person. It is completely against her nature to say no to anyone. She is

extremely smart and amazingly talented at everything she puts her mind to. I could go on and on about

her, but these are just a few of the qualities that made me fall in love with Serena. Though we have had

our fair share of struggles and challenges over the last couple years, there is no one I would rather

spend my life with. Serena is truly my better half and I am blessed each and everyday I spend with her.
