We officially started dating last Summer, but I have actually known about Piper for a long time. For all of you that do not know, Piper is a SUPERSTAR runner. When I was coaching at the college level in 2016 and 2017, I watched many races of Piper and watched her win or be close to the front in every single race. Every coach knew who she was and I am sure every athlete did as well. When I was coaching, I remember always just being in awe of how gorgeous and humble she was. Usually runners do not look the best when they run, but she was absolutely stunning before, during, and after every single race. Fast forward to this last Summer. I reached out to Piper and immediately we hit it off, there was that instant connection. I remember getting ready for our first date which was a picnic at a park. I wasn't too nervous at first because we connected so well over text and I figured it would be a smooth first date. I laid out all my clothes the night before and got her some flowers right before I went to her place. I walked right up the door and when she opened the door. My heart stopped! The vase that the flowers were in almost slipped right through my hand. That day I knew I went on my last first date!
Seth and I started talking shortly after I moved back to KC from college last summer. After texting for a couple of days, I couldn't believe how much we had in common... love of crime shows, country dancing, BBQ, running, quality time with friends & family, and most importantly, our faith. I couldn't wait to get to know him in-person!
As high as my expectations were going into our first date, Seth managed to blow them all out of the water! He arrived at my door with flowers and took me on a nice picnic. I was struck by how gentlemanly, handsome and kind-hearted he was, and how easily the conversation flowed - as if we had known each other for years. By the end of the evening (which we concluded with an episode of Law & Order SVU), I understood what people meant when they say "when you know, you know."
I am greatly blessed to be engaged to my best friend. Seth is the greatest supporter, his compassion is endless, his heart knows no limits of love or patience. He inspires me to be a better person and live out my faith as he does. His friends, family, students and coworkers can attest that he is one of the most wonderful people you will ever meet. From the time we started dating, I knew I would be the luckiest girl in the world to marry him, have a family with him, and grow old with him -- and I can hardly believe that dream is coming true!
