Seth & Marleigh

Spring 2023

Our Story

To take it to the verrrrryy beginning, Seth and I were acquainted when we were children thanks to Aunt Becky and Uncle Dave Hively's annual 4th of July parties (also through Vacation Bible School). We remained playmates/acquaintances throughout our childhood, with our family and friends as acquaintances, until Vacation Bible School 2019. Seth and I were both helpers, and Seth states that this is when he "noticed me." Seth and I didn't interact again until a year or so later at the Hively's weekly street hockey night (if you haven't noticed, the Hively's deserve much credit for the formation of Seth and I's relationship). We began to see each other/each other's families each Wednesday night, and Seth's little crush on me started to grow, with I being unaware of such crush. One evening after street hockey, my sister and brother-in-law, Maddy and Micah, told me "you and Seth are going to get married someday." I didn't really think much of it, but as the Wednesday night street hockey gatherings continued, the more I began to notice the super fast and annoyingly athletic kid at street hockey, the more I began to notice how he would go out of his way to talk to me, and the more I began to fall for him.

Everyone began to notice our liking of each other, and soon began putting us on the same team so we had more time to talk and get to know each other. We began hanging out outside of street hockey - at line dancing, the 30 hour famine, etc. Soon enough, Seth invited me over for his 16th birthday! He told me there would be a few of his friends as well, and that we would ride 4-wheeler and play basketball. So I show up wearing leggings, a long sleeve t-shirt, a light jacket and sneakers thinking that we were going to be active playing basketball. I pull in to a driveway full of way more than a "few" of his friends, and we end up not playing basketball but instead riding 60-some miles in 30 degree weather. It was quite the "initiation" for me, and although I was a literal popsicle by the end of the day, I loved every single second of it. We continued to ride 4 -wheeler every single Sunday for many weeks to follow, and Sunday's soon became a very anticipated day each week. Seth started inviting me to ride in the tractor with him and to go turkey hunting with him, and soon enough we were spending every single weekend together.

Come June 4th, 2020, Seth rolled up my driveway in a tractor and surprised me for our first "real" date. He was a few months shy of getting his driver's license, and we both agreed that we wouldn't make our relationship official until he got his license. But Seth states that he couldn't wait, so, he made it happen by picking me up in a tractor! We went to the Collinsville Drive-In and ate pizza burgers and some soft serve, and made it official! And the rest is history!

From then on, we have spent countless hours together in a tractor, milking, working on the farm, going to church together, going to the mountains, spending holidays together, taking MANY 4-wheeler rides and spotting excursions, spending time with friends and family, and so much more. Seth surprised me once again by proposing on August 5th, 2022 on the farm, in an equipment shed, while we were in our barn clothes :)

We are so thankful for all of the love and support we have received throughout our relationship this far, and we are beyond excited to top it all off with all of our friends and family by our side - on April 15th, 2023! (and yes - trust us, we know, on tax day!)
