Cupid’s Bow Hunt at the Ranch

On April 21st of 2023, although we hadn’t met yet, we both had the same plans- to attend a wedding at Robinson Ranch. Shae had never been to Houma and traveled four hours to reunite with her college roommate, Jenna, who she hadn’t seen in 5+ years. Meanwhile, Trevor was handling his groomsman duties for the day (day-drinking and fishing the pond with Gauge on the venue’s property). Shae’s mom Diane was her date for the wedding and the only people they knew were Jenna and her parents. After Gauge and Jenna’s beautiful ceremony was over and they were pronounced husband and wife, it was time to move over to the reception area. As Shae was walking up to the door, there Trevor was, jumping in front to hold it open for her and her mom. Rumor has it that Trevor spent the next hour asking people who the girl in the blue dress was. Diane said that she noticed Trevor looking over a few times. To be sure, Shae decided that the two of them would walk down the stairs towards the pond and see if his gaze followed. Diane nonchalantly turned to check and said “yep”. Nobody knew who Shae was, so Trevor decided to go to the source. During the cake cutting, Trevor asked another groomsman, who didn’t know. They both then asked Gauge, who didn’t know. All three of them asked Jenna and Trevor finally got his answer. Jenna got the scoop for Trevor and assured him that Shae was single and had been looking at him too. Shae was standing on the patio overlooking the dance floor when Trevor came up to her and said “you don’t have to be a bump on a log, get out there and dance”. And that we did. At some point in the night, Trevor switched into his jorts that he had worn while fishing earlier in the day (cut-off blue jean shorts). He completed the look with his vest, tie, and cowboy boots. Trevor met Shae’s mom (yes, in his jorts ensemble) and the moment he walked off to grab a drink, Diane turned to her daughter and said, “I’m just saying, your dad and I met at a wedding and our ages are also six years apart”. The night went on nothing like Shae ever imagined her first night in Houma would have. Trevor picked her up from the hotel later and she rode on the party bus along with the newlyweds, hopping from bar to bar. Through a long distance relationship and Trevor’s offshore schedule, we’ve made the most of our time spent together and have shared so many experiences. We both live in Houma now, with our dog Tucson. Neither of us woke up that day thinking that we would find our true love, but as each day passes, it’s clear to us that God knew what he was doing by crossing our paths. Now, it’s our turn to get married at the very same place that we met, the Robinson Ranch. The wedding will take place on June 8th, 2025. Shae’s parents will be celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary the same day. June 8th cannot come soon enough, even though we know that we have a whole lifetime together ahead of us.
