Good Ole UMMC

Picture of Good Ole UMMC

These days, it feels like meeting someone organically is such a rare thing—with so many dating apps out there, it doesn’t happen often in everyday life. But somehow, Colin and I got really lucky.

We met during x-ray school at UMMC, where we spent two and a half years in the program together. After a little over a year of being classmates, I sent him a message one day (don’t tell him I told you that!) while I was in town for a babysitting job near where he lived, and asked if he wanted to hang out. And now… here we are—engaged!

We later graduated with our BSNs together, and while I went on to pursue my master’s, Colin took a night shift job at UMMC. Once I completed my program, I joined UMMC too—on the very same night shift. Life got a little hectic after that: Colin went to New Orleans for a travel position for six months, and I moved to the day shift. During that time, we bought our first home together, and when Colin returned, he was able to get a job at UMMC again—this time on the same day shift as me.

We got to work across the hall from each other. We would walk in and out of work together for a while. We truly couldn’t ask for more.

And just recently, I accepted a new position as a professor in the very same x-ray program where Colin and I first met. Life has come full circle in the most special way.

We are so excited to start this new, crazy journey together. Thank you UMMC!
