We met Memorial Day weekend of 2009. Grant was a friend of Shaina’s cousins who Shaina met while visiting her cousin. Grant lived in Alva and Shaina lived in Coral Springs. Grant got Shaina’s number from her cousin, and they kept in contact. In July they started dating but were unsure of just how that would work. They were newly 16 without cars and had school to attend. Within 2 weeks of dating Shaina’s parents decided to open a restaurant in Fort Myers (unrelated to us dating). Shaina says it is one of those things that could make her believe in fate. Due to Shaina’s parent’s restaurant, they saw each other 3 days a week and were able to develop a real relationship. They dated long distance seeing each other every Friday Saturday and Sunday and worked in Shaina’s parent’s restaurant together until college. The first year of College, Grant went to USF and Shaina to FAU. After the first year Grant moved to Boca and also attended FAU so that we could finally be closer to each other. From there another 12 years flew by. They both worked for TD bank, waitressed at different locations and grew up together. Grant graduated with his bachelors in Biology and also graduated paramedic and fire school and became a firefighter. Shaina graduated with her bachelors in political science, her JD from FIU Law and her tax LLM from UM and now works as an attorney. Throughout the 12 years, they traveled, saved money, spent money, made memories, laughed, cried, fought, made-up and loved. They have spent 15 + years together and love each other so much. They cannot wait to now get married and make another memory.
