A long time coming

About 17 years ago (yes that is 1-7 haha) Shane, a handsome midwestern guy from North Dakota and Shandon, a southern belle from South Carolina met in a very unconventional way. Both were super huge fans of WWF wrestling and became friends in a WWF chat room! After dating online and over the phone for 3 1/2 years, they met in person for the first time while Shandon was in her first year of college. It was like they had know each other forever! When they parted, they both knew that there was no way they could be apart any longer. Shandon moved to North Dakota to be with Shane after that first year and finished her degree there with her soulmate. It was also there that Shandon proposed to Shane (yes, you heard right - she's a go getter). While Shane said "Yes, of course", he also laughed and jokingly said "You know I'm suppose to do the proposing though, right?".
With promise rings adorned, Shane moved to Texas with Shandon in 2009 and a couple years later, he would propose underneath the stars and fireworks on July 4th (yes, Independence Day... ironic). Shane and Shandon always dreamed of a beach wedding one day but as life wore on, tragedies struck, and family was deployed, the wedding was postponed over the years.
Determined to make it happen, Shane and Shandon are getting officially married this year at their church home with their beloved congregation of ACCESS, the modern worship service of First United Methodist Church Richardson, again, in a very unconventional way - after worship in front of their congregation on their 17 year anniversary. They will have their full ceremony on the beach, just as they dreamed so many years ago, in Cancun, Mexico on Valentine's Day 2018.
We want to thank everyone who have supported us in the ups and downs and we are so happy to share our story and lives with you. Remember love can happen when you aren't even looking - that's what happened for us! :-)
