Our Story

How I Met The Love Of My Life

Zach's Perspective:

I was at church one Sunday when I saw a girl out of the corner of my eye. I quickly noticed how beautiful she was. What instantly stood out to me was how she worshipped and praised God. However, she was gone before I had time to talk to her.

I saw her again at the church picnic, wearing a white and brown horizontal dress, swinging on the swings. Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to talk to her then either.

But God works in mysterious ways. I volunteered to be on the moving team, and that's when our paths crossed again. We helped a church family move, and she was there with her friend. I lost all confidence in approaching her. The more I looked at her, the more I noticed her stunning smile.

That day, I didn't muster the courage to approach her. Our next encounter was at our hyphen group's game night. I arrived late, as usual, and there she was – the woman who had captured my heart without even knowing I existed. I was seated next to her, and my heart began racing as I listened to her talk. I immediately noticed her accent and realized she wasn't a Southern belle. Her voice was like hearing that one romantic song on repeat, constantly sweet.

We started talking and laughing while playing games. I asked her what her name was, and she told me it was Shanishe. I thought it was a beautiful name for such a lovely lady.

Although I didn't ask her out on a date that night, I took my chance after church on October 22nd, 2023. I texted her on our group app since I didn't have her number. After two whole days of anticipation, she responded with a yes and shared her phone number. The rest is history.

Shanishe’s Perspective:

God works in mysterious ways. I was praying to God, specifically asking for the type of man I wanted. I remember telling Him I wanted someone who is not only romantic but also loves God and loves to volunteer.

It was a Saturday morning, and my girlfriend and I had volunteered to help a church family that was moving. I was sitting in my car when I noticed a white truck parked in front of me. As I sat there, I saw this handsome man got out of his truck. I recall he had a cap on. My initial thought was, "that guy doesn't go to my church; I've never seen him before."

My girlfriend and I finished helping move our church family. Later that Saturday night, I had a hyphen event. It started as a normal game night until the same guy I saw that morning walked in. I was shocked because that was the first time I'd seen him on a game night. We sat together, and I heard his southern accent. He introduced himself as Zachariah, and then I introduced myself. The game night was fun, and our team won.

Two days later, while at work, I noticed a notification on the group app. It was a direct message - or as the kids say, he "slid into my DMs". It was Zach asking me out on a date. As you know, the rest is history, because you're invited to our special day!
