The Plaza is where we have our hotel room blocks and where the shuttles will be departing from to go to the farm. It is one of the first outdoor shopping centers built and is reminiscent of old Spanish cities. I have the walking art guide loaded to this page. Kansas City is known as the City of Fountains and there are several must see fountains on the Plaza.
The River Market is in downtown KC. The trolly runs from the Plaza to Union Station and down to the river market! On Saturdays there is the farmers market.
There are several fun shops and cultural restaurants in this area.
One of my favorite places in Kansas City and walking distance from the Plaza is the Nelson Art Gallery! This time of year the grounds are gorgeous with the ginko trees sometimes changing their leaves in October. Always fun to go to the Rozell Court for tea or lunch or see what special exhibits are visiting!
Also close to the Plaza and the Nelson is the Kemper Museum. Fantastic collections in this smaller contemporary art museum.
This historical building was refurbished in the early 2000s and has several fun places to visit within like the Planetarium and Science City. Neat to go in and walk around.
