Our Wedding

10 Years in the Making

If you ask Shannon &amp; Ben how they met, you'll get one of two answers: 1. In 2015, they met as new next-door neighbors at the University of Maryland. Quite literally the boy and girl next door, their interactions included borrowing kitchen supplies or saying hello in the hallway. 2. In 2016, a hot summer night brought both of them separately to the iconic College Park dive-bar: Bentley's. The rest is history. From the start, Shannon &amp; Ben bonded over a love of traveling the world. Here's a look back at ten years of the travels they've done together - and a few other highlights!

Local Airports

The closest airport is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). DCA is approximately 25 minutes from the wedding venue. Other nearby airports include:- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD): Approximately 45 minutes- Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI): Approximately 1 hour

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

For traveling guests, stay close to the Wedding Ceremony in nearby National Harbor. With views overlooking the Potomac River, National Harbor is a hub with everything from restaurants and shopping to a casino and live music. Visit the sandy shoreline to ride the Ferris Wheel or catch a ferry to Washington, DC and other nearby sites. We have reserved a room block with a discounted rate at the AC Hotel. This hotel is a 10 minute drive to the wedding venue. Shuttles will be provided to and from the AC Hotel.

Reserve a room using our discounted room rate! There are 3 ways you may book: 1) Click the "Website" link below and the rate is automatically applied! 2) On the hotel’s main Marriott website, you can enter the special code: SCHSCHA. 3) Call reservations at (888) 236-2427 and reference the "Schuldenfrei Room Block" to reserve rooms at the discounted rate. The last day to receive the discounted room rate is Friday, May 8, 2026. You must reserve your room by May 8.

Is the event outdoors?

Yes, the cocktail party and ceremony will take place outdoors.

What should I wear?

The dress code is Garden Party. To learn more about Garden Party attire, <a href="https://www.bjonesphotos.com/blog/wedding-guest-dress-code-explained-because-wtf-is-garden-party-formal-bmw2w" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">click here</a>. We recommend forgoing stilettos in favor of strappy sandals or wedges as they are ideal for walking on grass. We recommend cool, light fabrics. Colorful maxi sundresses or tea-length dresses - or a lightweight suit or a crisp button-down - are all excellent choices.

Can I bring my children?

For our wedding on Saturday 6/6/26, we would like our special day to be an adult-only occasion. Teenagers (children aged 13 years or older) will be included in invitations. For any events throughout the weekend on Friday and Sunday, the whole family, including all children, are welcome to join the festivities!

I'm staying in National Harbor. Is transportation provided?

Yes, pick-up and drop-off service is arranged between hotel accommodations in National Harbor and our residence. Details here: Pick-upTime: Meet the shuttle at 4:20 PM. Shuttles will depart at 4:30 PM.Location: AC Hotel National Harbor (156 Waterfront St, Oxon Hill, MD 20745) Drop-offTime: Meet the shuttle at 9:00 PM. Shuttles will depart at 9:10 PM.Location: Ben &amp; Shannon's Residence (9908 Wenzel Lane, Fort Washington, MD 20744) We highly encourage everyone staying at the AC Hotel to ride the shuttle to and from the venue.

I'm driving a personal vehicle. Where do I park?

Due to limited parking, we highly encourage everyone staying at the AC Hotel to ride the shuttle to and from the venue. For those driving, we encourage carpooling or ride sharing. Please park your vehicle for free on Wenzel Lane. You may park either:- Directly in front of our home, along the right side of Wenzel Lane where there are no homes- At the end of Wenzel Lane, in the large circular turnaround Reference the map below to see both parking locations as well as the starred venue.
