Daniel Cook, tall man with a short attention span. 

 Alex and I became friends immediately when we met in 2nd grade. Our enthusiasm and charisma matched each other a little too well and it was hard for us to spend time away from one another. With no familial brothers in my life, I consider him that, and feel that way because each amazing moment, as well as the adverse events we’ve been through in our lives, it never felt as if we were alone since we’ve always been by each others side.

 My favorite memory together would be working at a wedding venue together for 2 summers. The loooooong Saturdays were only possible together and I feel as if our “manly” selves getting to watch as couples had their greatest day to that point gave us great images of what TO DO and what NOT TO DO in love. That job solidified how I imagined my own love life, and I know it helped him as well. 

  Shannon and Alex are like Yin and Yang. They blend together, while remaining their own people. They mesh in hardship, yet flourish in the light of accomplishing collective goals. They’re both the kind of lovers that are there for their people, no matter the circumstance. Knowing Shannon only as long as I have I know if a moment ever came up where I needed her alone, nothing would come before what I, or anyone else in her life, was going through. They share goals, livelihoods, friends, families, and minds. They feel the other’s emotions as if it were their own. I love the steps they’ve taken in life, and together they can do it all, and then some.

My name is Deirdre, I met Shannon in college where we were cross country teammates and became fast friends and roommates. One of my favorite memories with Shannon was our delusional late night conversations in college. Despite now living in different cities and sometimes states after college we continue to be best friends. We find time to visit each other often, which has given me lots of time to get to know Alex. He and I get along well and he has become the best babysitter for my dog, Lucky. I am so excited to be a part of this day and stand by these two as they say I do.

My name is Aaron Berghash. Thirteen years ago, when I was in 7th grade a stranger coerced me onto a bus, while I was going home from school. They told me that they were taking me into the woods and that I had no choice but to go with them. That stranger was Alex and that bus was for the cross country team. I ran with Alex on the XC team from 7th grade to senior year of high school where we became friends.

My favorite memory of us is the summer we worked together for Wes.

Alex has been searching for someone like Shannon for as long as ive known him. Shannon is exciting, dedicated, focused, and altruistic. Over the course of 13 years, from middle school through college, I've had the opportunity to get to know Alex and eventually grow to love and understand him like family. After meeting Shannon, it was immediately clear that she also knows and loves Alex in a way that takes years to do. They are an example of what real love looks like and how it works. Lindsey Shear here, Shannon’s BFFUTDWD AKA our 7th grade term of “best friends forever until the day we die.” I met Shannon in 7th grade & we have been sisters ever since. Shannon is a ride or die type of friend. Of all the memories my favorite would have to be buying matching outfits in 7th grade and wearing the exact same outfit 5 days in row in middle school, and no, that is not an exaggeration. Or perhaps after shopping in 7th grade and Mr Horan scolding me for buying $80 dollar hollister jeans with holes in them. Or perhaps making dancing videos in the basement in the late hours and keeping the entire Horan family up. The list goes on and on. Then came along Alex. Alex and I became fast friends and he quickly realized my problems, were now also his problems and so became the trio of Shannon, Lindsey, and Alex. Whether it was swimming in Alex’s green pool, eating lunch on Ontario lake in the pouring rain, or going for a run at 7 AM before their 10 AM cruise from Miami, these 2 complete each other. And yes, they will probably be the family going for 5K runs on holiday mornings…I haven’t met a better pair & know that these two are in it for the long run and I am blessed to be apart of there journey and they will overcome each & any obstacle that’s to come. Relation:
I am Alex’s distant cousin from Alaska. In our youth we would run the mountains of Nova Scotia.
We were also classmates and teammates at Wheatland since fourth grade. During undergrad,
living down the river from eachother, we conducted classified operations in Nam. We
reconnected in Pittsburgh and opened up a bike shop. We have known eachother for 16 years.
Favorite Memory:
Before going out for the first showing of “Hair Spray,” as we are doing final checks on our
costumes and going over our lines for the last time, Alex brought in all the guys on the cast. As
one of the lead actors with the most experience in the room, Alex gave a rallying speech that
calmed all nerves. He gave us the energy to perform not as a group of actors but as a team.
Shannon and Alex, The Dynamic Duo:
Shannon and Alex are an amazing couple and it is always awesome when I am around then.
Alex and Shannon go well together because they are always ready for an adventure. Alex is
one of the most imaginative and energetic guys I know. Ready to take on the world, Shannon is
always by his side, encouraging and supporting, and Alex doing the same.

My name is Daniel Shirley and I am a middle school math teacher at Somerset. I’ve known Alex for about two years now, and I knew we’d be best friends ever since we first played scattergories. My favorite memory with Alex is traveling to the Adirondacks for a hiking trip, not just for the mountains, but for being able to see and share a place that meant so much to him. 
I think Shannon and Alex will work well together because they bring out the best in each other.

My name is Alyssa and I officially met Shannon in 2018 after we learned through ancestry.com that we were cousins! We met at brunch in Tampa and learned quickly how similar we were. We have become best friends since. Our status was confirmed when Shannon yanked a Santa hat off my head, while playing one of our aunts classic Christmas games. There was yelling and laughter, and all walls had been torn down. It has been as if we have known each other our whole lives ever since. We have enjoyed many family vacations together, football games, and holiday celebrations. I got to meet Alex on a family vacation to Keuka Lake in 2021, and am so excited to be apart of their wedding day!

Former runner now gym enthusiast. Love hiking and camping but also will never say no to a relaxing night with my fiancé and two dogs. 


 I’ve known Alex for what it seems like forever. We’ve been friends since at least elementary school, earliest memory I have of us is a field trip to wegmans in like third grade. However, my favorite memory of us is building the gates of Valhalla at the 600 meter mark at the end of our cross country course. He just started doing it and everyone else followed along. Which happened a lot. 


 Alex and Shannon work so well together because they are cut from the same cloth. They share very similar interests whether it’s running, hiking, dogs, or having a great time Alex and Shannon will always be there making the most of it.

Summary: Will Esposito I've known Alex since we both started at Marist in the Summer of 2016. We have known each other for 8 years. 

My favorite memory of us was one of the first interactions we actually had together. It was during preseason of our freshmen year, everyone just in the beginning of our college adventure and I arrived to the cafeteria after a practice a bit later than everyone else. When I got to the table, everyone was getting up  to leave, but Alex decided to stay with me so that I would not have to eat alone. It meant the world to me that he stuck around, after all we were at that very early stage of college when everyone was feeling everyone out and trying to find their new friends. Reflecting back on it, that single gesture allowed us to have our first 1 on 1 interaction, and it really was after that I knew we would end up becoming close. 

I think that you and Shannon will work together due to the background you both share of being competitive runners. Both of you coming from that background you both know what it means to commit to something for the long term, give effort everyday to something and understand that there will be highs and lows. Applying this mentality to marriage, I know that you two are great together. 

William Esposito 

Shannon and I met freshman year at SHU. At first, she thought I was simply insane but we would soon become best friends in the whole universe after a few glasses of wine and an our infamous bestie photo. Before we knew it we had every single class together, became roommates and ran (or not) together every day. Our endless crackhead energy will always be unmatched. The first time I met Alex and he told me that Shannon tried cauliflower wings at his request I KNEW she'd marry him. There was no way around it- you don’t eat cauliflower for anybody. My favorite memory with Shannon is getting stuck in Rochester waiting for snow tires after thanksgiving break🙂

This picture was taken at mine and Alex’s old college house, the one and only 15 east cedar street. We had so many good times in that house. Some of the nights that we spent there were unforgettable, and others I might never be able to remember. How could I forget this night and this iconic outfit though? I think we look pretty slammin’ no diggity!

My name is Moe and I am a Marist College alumni and former member of the Marist track and cross country team. I work at a fintech startup in Manhattan currently living on Long Island. As a lover of music and sports I spend much of my free time seeing concerts, watching Islanders hockey, and suffering through agonizing Sundays of New York Jets football.  

I’ve known Alex since my freshman year of college in 2017. We were teammates for 3 years, housemates for 2 years, and he is my brother for life. 

I have so many great memories with Alex so it was really tough for me to choose a favorite. We met each other through the Marist track/cross country team, so I decided I would share a story about the time I witnessed Alex run a race that was simultaneously one of the best and worst races I have ever seen. We were at a spring track meet and Alex was preparing to race a 5k. I was sitting in the stands listening to our coach discuss race strategy with him. He wanted Alex to run a smart, consistent race. Naturally, Alex disregarded this plan and decided to devise his own. I remember having a chat with Alex before the race started and he said something along the lines of “I might just run this like a workout, I’m gonna have some fun out there”. Once the race started I soon realized what he meant. He was literally running the race like a workout routine, which we called “turns and burns”. For those who aren’t familiar, turns and burns is a workout in which you run multiple laps around the track, but you slow your pace down a jog on the turns and then sprint (burn) the straightaways. It was one of my favorite workouts, but I would never have thought to use it as a race strategy. As a spectator I thought this was hilarious, but my coach very much did not. I remember him throwing his clipboard down in frustration as he realized what Alex was doing. However, as the race progressed I think his frustration started to fade. Alex was running a damn good race despite the unconventional approach. He definitely looked pretty dumb, but somehow it worked! If I recall correctly Alex’s finishing time might have even been a personal record for him at that time. I think this story is a testament to Alex’s unique personality. He is never afraid to try something new and do things his own way despite what others think, and I mean that in the best way possible. He thinks outside the box and seizes the moment unlike anyone I have ever met. There is no other man like Alex Hogue. 

At the time of writing this I have actually never met Shannon, but I hope to change that soon. I have heard amazing things. The way that Alex talks about her tells me everything I need to know. They seem so devoted to each other and they make each other happy, which is the most important thing in a relationship. I give my unwavering stamp of approval. These two are meant to last.

"Shannon and I first met at Seton Hill University and we were teammates on the cross country team. We became good friends when Shannon was a freshman and our friendship grew and grew! Fortunately she took me in as an “honorary roommate” and let me stay at her apartment all of the time! Many long runs and late nights later I am so happy to have found such an amazing friend! I was so lucky to find someone who shares my love of junk food, running, and the Buffalo Bills! I am so incredibly excited for Shannon and Alex and their wedding!"

Megan Shaffer

It was hard for me to choose just one. Alex and I attempted to take the same picture every year at our home cross-country race (not sure what happened to the freshman year one) but I thought our evolution was special, so here it is. 

Summary: former Marist cross-country runner doing everything possible to avoid people calling me a "washed up" athlete. I live in New York City where I work in finance, and my only hobbies are still attempting to run competitively and drinking. 

I've known Alex since freshman year of college, through Marist cross-country.
Favorite memory of us: there are many, so this was hard to choose. If I had to narrow it down it would be freshman year at Disney world for the MAAC Cross-Country Championships. Alex basically lost his leg during the race. I had to look up if he even finished because I couldn't remember, and not to my surprise he did, and decently well too. I remember after the race the disappointment in himself, and also realized how similar we were in that moment. More heart than anyone I know, and doing anything possible not to let down those around him. On another note, I'll never forget the same day Alex limping up and down the Tower of Terror, maybe 40 times, with a broken leg, and smiling in the process. I think that sums it up pretty well. 

Why Shannon and Alex work well together: funny enough, at the time of writing this, I have never met Shannon in person but I hope to do so before the wedding. However, from what I can tell by the way Alex talks about her, I knew she was special from the beginning. She seems grounding for Alex, incredibly supportive and caring, and someone who he can be himself with, so I'm not sure what more you can really ask.

"I met Shanny at Seton Hill our sophomore year on the XC team. We shared a love for yellow labs and hiking in the mountains. So many memories! But my ultimate favorite is a tie between a race in a storm at Edinboro where we looked like we were swimming in mud and when our puppy dogs met for the first time. Love you, forever friend!"

Sarah McGowan

My name is Colin, and I am Alex’s younger brother, so I’ve known him my entire life. Alex has always been someone that I can learn from by leading in examples of what to do and what not to do. One of my favorite memories of Alex is when he brought me up to Marist for a weekend. I was still in high school at the time and I felt so cool for going to a college party for the first time. But Alex kept me safe, just like he has always tried to do throughout our lives. Alex is someone who loves to take care of the people he cares about, even if they don’t always want to be taken care of. Only Shannon Horan could be patient enough, and lucky enough to be married to my brother. And I am so incredibly proud of him.

Amelia, came into the world in 2015 just as I (Alex) was getting ready to graduate high school. Now, as the funniest 8 year old I have ever met, it was a no brainer to have Amelia be a part of our special day both as my God Daughter and as Shannon's new niece. To the best big sister, smartest little lady, and the youngest Beatles fan in the world, Amelia is growing up too fast but into a phenomenal person and someone that Shannon and I are thrilled to have a part of our day.
