Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

714 N Portage Path, Akron, OH 44303, USA

Akron, Ohio, our wedding location, has a rich history as a hub of innovation and industry. Once known as the “Rubber Capital of the World,” Akron flourished in the early 20th century as the center of rubber manufacturing, home to companies like Goodyear and Firestone. Beyond its industrial roots, Akron is also known for its cultural landmarks, including Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. This beautiful historic estate, built by Goodyear co-founder F.A. Seiberling, is a stunning reminder of the city’s prosperous past and enduring charm. A tour of the estate includes lush gardens, a greenhouse, and the main mansion.

Enjoy a walk on the towpath trail and then treat yourself to something from the market. On the weekends, Szalay's has soft serve ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers, and grilled corn. Take a picture on their iconic swinging bench.

Highland Square

If you are looking for a place to grab food or drink, Highland Square is one of Akron’s most vibrant and eclectic neighborhoods. Whether you’re exploring its charming independent shops, enjoying live music at local venues, or dining at its diverse array of restaurants and cafés, there’s always something exciting to experience. Highland Square perfectly blends a trendy, urban feel with a laid-back atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors alike. Local grocery store, Mustard Seed Market, allows for grocery store goers to enjoy a bottle of wine they purchased in store at the rooftop cafe. If you're interested in a late afternoon pick-me up Angel Falls Coffee Company offers your favorite caffeinated beverages. Ray's pub is the staple dive of Highland Square that offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Ohio, USA

For those who love the great outdoors, Akron offers an abundance of natural beauty and opportunities for adventure. Though the time between the ceremony and reception may not leave you with enough time to explore the Akron outdoors, you may find the time if you plan to arrive to town early or stay a day or two after the ceremony. The city is nestled near the stunning Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where you can hike picturesque trails, bike along the scenic Towpath Trail, or marvel at the cascading Brandywine Falls. If you're up for a longer hike, our personal favorite is Buttermilk Falls.
