Ever hear of the invisible string theory? The idea that two people are destined to be connected, no matter the time or place. Well, Shannon and Tyler’s story is a lot like that.
They first met back in high school. Tyler was working at Target, and Shannon was working at the local flower shop. After a quick connection at the checkout line, Shannon gave Tyler her number. Their first date was dinner and watching a Blackhawks game. However, at the time, Shannon found that she actually wasn’t quite ready for a relationship—school and sports were her focus—so they went their separate ways.
Fast forward nearly five years. Shannon had moved back home to Illinois, and Tyler was serving in the Marines, deployed overseas. One simple reply to an Instagram story changed everything. That message led to conversations, which turned into friendship, which quickly blossomed into something more. From texts to phone calls, and even emails when it was their only way of communication, their bond grew stronger every day.
Looking back, they realized that invisible string had been tying them together all along. They had unknowingly crossed paths at countless parties, events, and gatherings over the years. Tyler even played lacrosse with Shannon’s brother, Shane, when they were young. Flipping through old photos, they saw how often they had been just steps away from each other—until the timing finally fell into place.
Now, six years later, Shannon and Tyler have built a life together (with their two cats, of course) and are ready to take on this next chapter. Their love story is proof that the right person, at the right time, was always meant to be.
