Shannon and Kyrstin first met when they both swiped right on Bumble. They decided on a first date, which was canceled when Kyrstin went to St. Louis with her family instead and Shannon ended up missing a comedy show he paid for! Kyrstin had no idea this was the case until about 6 months into dating. They eventually got to meet at a small bar called Genisio’s in Woodhull, IL. The first date ended up in a second date at Miguel’s in Aledo. After this date, Kyrstin wasn’t so sure about Shannon. The truth was she liked him a lot, but needed a much needed push to keep him around. So their friends Brooke and Tanner did a double date to see if Shannon passed the test. Little did the girls know a bromance blossomed. The double date went well, and the relationship became official on December 18, 2022.
Shannon and Kyrstin had been talking about getting married after a year into their relationship. It wasn’t until August of 2024 that Kyrstin actually decided to go ring shopping to tell Shannon finally what she wanted. The next couple of months Kyrstin would ask if he had plans, and the timeline kept getting more vague. In November it became clear the big day would “soon” be here. Or at least that’s all Shannon would say when Kyrstin would ask. “Soon.” It became a taboo word in their house very quickly. On Christmas Eve of 2024, Kyrstin sent a snapchat to her friend Brooke of her left hand and said no ring yet. But to her surprise, Brooke already knew what was coming. (And so did most of Kyrstin’s family). 30 minutes later, Kyrstin’s mom wanted a picture of Shannon and Kyrstin in front of the tree. Surrounded by her family, during her favorite time of year, Shannon proposed and Kyrstin said yes! The best part was the excited reactions from all!
