Once upon a time in a college town in Connecticut, Shannon and Mike met through friends. They became friends but it slowly became something more. For their first date, on Valentine's Day in 2011, Shannon nervously cooked dinner for Mike at his house which resulted in a semi-edible meal along with a burnt dessert and a broken dish!

Their love story has seen them through four moves as well as a move to Virginia where Shannon works for a library and Mike works as a photographer for a local news station.

Mike proposed to Shannon in 2018 at her family's lake house. He told her he wanted to film a video for her to have as a memory of her favorite place. Shannon was completely oblivious to what was going on and was sharing fun and funny memories of her childhood and growing up at the lake. They went on a canoe ride where Shannon was in the front and Mike was in the back filming. All of a sudden he proposed and Shannon hurriedly turned around rocking the canoe. She said yes excitedly and they were able to settle the canoe and were not knocked overboard along with the ring. (Fortunately it wasn't like one of the dramatic adventure scenes in a book Shannon loves or else the canoe would have tipped them over along with the ring sending them frantically swimming down to find it!)

Some of their favorite memories over the years include a trip to Niagara Falls, a trip to California, seeing Hamilton, seeing The Lion King in one of the front rows, and attending concerts together to see bands like The Struts and Panic at the Disco.

This year Mike and Shannon bought their first house in Virginia which their two cats, Toothless and Teddy, fully approve of.

We're so looking forward to starting our next chapter this fall. We can't wait to begin our happily ever after surrounded by loved ones!
