Our Story

Shantal was born in Kalamazoo and grew up in Portage, Michigan. She is the daughter of Elizabeth Howell, RN, BS, MSN &amp; Jerry Howell. She is an avid figure skater, dancer and athlete. Shantal has a passion for living a healthy lifestyle and empowering others to do the same. In her professional career, Shantal became one of the the first, youngest, and repeatedly highest performing females in her medical sales career. Shantal has worked among "many of the greats" within the orthopedic, lung, spine, and oncology realms. Spending a majority of her working professional life Dallas, Texas, Shantal has also been dedicated to acting, modeling, and liberal arts. She began attending Butler University in 2001. Butler University was where she and Brian later met. Brian was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and is the son of Dr. Mendee and Dr. Reginald Ligon. Brian studied piano and played alto saxophone in addition to excelling rigorously at baseball and basketball. Brian's genetic gifts and consistent talent propelled him to be Captain of the Butler University Men's Basketball team, helping lead the team to several historical sports accomplishments including the NCAA Men’s Basketball NIT Tournament Championship (06’) and Sweet 16 Tournament (’07).&nbsp;Brian attended dental School at Meharry Medical College. He now owns and operates the highly renown and respected St. Petersburg dental practice, Ligon Dental Group. Brian's continued passion for music and entrepreneurship is a canvas avidly being painted. Shantal and Brian's story is an incredibly special one. After 13 years of lives and careers unfolding in two different states, Brian took it into his liberty to reconnect with Shantal. Despite a worldwide pandemic, and the distance of five states, Shantal and Brian's love so powerfully reignited with a flame that never faded. That fire burns with the love they always had for one another. There is not a day that goes by where Shantal doesn't make Brian laugh, and Brian's kiss makes Shantal's heart skip a beat. Together they are truly "the Dream Team" and so excited to start their new life together.
