Our Story?

A little bit of a reluctant Moses ending with Ruth and Boaz.

I was coming off a relationship and I had made up my mind that I was going to focus on building my business. I needed a postal shop for one of my clients to work in. I did a google search to find one. The second one that popped up was in Highland Park. I did not want to go because my assumption was that it wouldn’t be a good fit. I drove over there anyway. I passed the spot the first time because it didn’t stand out. The second time I thought it was small, don’t go in there. Something in my head said GO! Got out of the car, walked to the door and turned around to leave because I only saw mailboxes. I’m thinking this is not a good fit. Something in my head said GO! I went to the door and realized there was a second door. I took one step inside and saw a jewelry store to the left. I’m thinking this is not a good fit. Turned around to leave. Something in my head said GO! Took one step inside the second door and thought, this is not a good fit. I figured I should leave. Then I heard a woman’s voice say, “can I help you”? I said yes, all the while thinking, “this is not a good fit”. Oh well, I’ll shoot my shot and get out of here. I made my sales pitch; the young lady liked it! But she was not the one that could say yes to my company. She called out to the young lady that was the boss.

This young lady whose back was to me the whole time turned around, walked over to me and said hi. I looked at this woman and the first thing I noticed was her eyes. I was lost!! I forgot what I was going to talk about!! I realized I was staring hard, so I tried to get myself together. So, I said, hello, how are you, trying to make sure my voice sounded sexy! She said something and it sounded like Charlie Brown’s teacher, wah, wah, wah. I was too busy acting like a man. I’m looking up and down. She was gorgeous!! Pump the brakes, I saw a ring! I’m crushed, but I gotta be cool and try to remember that I was just there for business anyway. I start back with my business proposal. She liked it and said yes to me partnering with her business. My feelings? Happy for the business opportunity, sad for not having a chance at anything else.

Fast forward three weeks later. I found out that she was not married and that she had been talking to her sister about having a crush on me! I also found out everyone in the shop knew, except ME! Started to talk to her on the phone and when I came by the shop (as much as I could, lol). I realized she wasn’t just beautiful. We shared the same values, loved the same Lord (she’s a PK), had similar life stories and had a connection that neither one of us could explain. Crazy fact, we both love watching Christmas movies year-round.

We dated and continued to get to know each other. We met each other’s families. We talked about where we saw this going and what that meant. That journey has led us to now. When I think about what would have happened if I had not heard that voice in my head saying GO! That’s when I realized God brought us together. She is my Ruth, and I want to be her Boaz. We are supposed to be together, and nothing makes me more excited than realizing that!

Please continue to pray for us as we continue our journey. We like to hold hands when we walk. My prayer is that whatever life holds for us that we hold hands, trust God and walk this path together!
