Meet the Artists

Sun Stereo

Sun Stereo delivers a full sensory explosion incorporating a hybridization of organic and electronic elements blended with circus-esque performance art, orchestral strings, and a funk your face off horn section delivering a message of acceptance, hope, and love. In the last 13 years they have developed a fierce following and established themselves as a must see live show, reminiscent of a wedding reception on acid (sans the chicken dance.) They also have performed tribute sets for special festival sets as The Beatles(Gentlemen of the Road Tour/Summer Camp 2012-2015), The Doors(Summer Camp 2016), and The Flaming Lips (Summer Camp 2018). They have performed at numerous festivals, including Mumford & Sons Gentlemen of the Road Tours in Ohio, Illinois, and Iowa, 10+ years at Summer Camp Music Festival, North Coast Music Festival, Mountain Music Festival, Peoria Blues and Heritage Festival, The Taste of Randolph Street, The Werkout Festival, Navy Pier, Shoefest, Pygmalion Festival, SOHO Music Festival, Illiac Music Festival, Merchant Street Music Festival, Dixon Petunia Festival, Down on the Farm, Urbana Sweetcorn Festival, and Taste of Champaign. They have shared the stage with George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, The Wood Brothers, Here Come the Mummies, Andy Frasco & the UN, EOTO, Keller Williams, The Apache Relay, Waydown Wanderers, The Main Squeeze, This Must Be the Band, UV Hippo, Those Darlins, Henhouse Prowlers. Euforquestra, Jon Wayne and the Pain, J.C. and the Uptown Sound, Digital Tape Machine, and Mike Dillon Band (Primus).

Trouble Chasin'

Trouble Chasin' is a hip-hop/rap group hailing out of Champaign, IL. The duo is composed of 217 emcees Sandman Slimm & Chase Baby. The pair was chosen to represent the 217 as solo artists at the Summer Camp Music Festival (2016). In spirit of the festival and the over creation of great music, they decided to link together for a joint album. In 2019 the duo released their 2nd album, “Trouble Chasin’ 2” and further solidified that the two were truly on to something special. Having formed a solid base and understanding of their sound, the duo put all of their efforts into their 3rd album “Aquarigo” (Oct 2022). After sharpening their swords at the Canopy Club for years, the duo now finds themselves gracing even bigger stages like The State Farm Center & The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater. Their fourth project “Call Your Guy” is almost finished and they hope to release it by the end of the summer.

Terminus Victor

Terminus Victor music is a harder-edged, punchy, thick blend of rock, alternative rock, and post-punk with a dash of shoegaze. Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Rage Against The Machine, Slint, Depeche Mode HUM and more are influential ingredients in the wall of sound recipe cooked up by Scott Kimble [Bass/Vocals], Don King [Guitar], and Terry Wathen [Drums]. This band's tastes become known through powerful yet vulnerable expressions of raw emotion, insecurities and empathy with the pain and beauty of life as common people.

Kimble casts a shadowy figure and has a ghost-like ability to disappear from a room when he was standing here just a second ago. When he reappears on stage, Kimble plays a modified three string bass that roars with rhythmic style as he sings a range of dynamic to soaring vocals. Kimble's lifelong friend, King, is his opposite. Nattily adorned in a suit and tie, he joyfully kneads the fretboard amplified with beautifully thick and chiming stereo guitar tone. Live performances show their collective yin and yang are an immediately apparent counterpoint that balances perfectly with the massive delivery of their music. Wathen is revered as one of the best drummers in the region. Originally from Chicago, he is a lifelong musician who bonds the chemistry of the band with precise dynamic temperatures that underscore his band mates riffs.

Nicknamed TVic by the twin cities of Champaign-Urbana, IL, this band thrives on inspiration “the music is in here [point to heart] and it has got to come out!”. Matt Talbott (Earth Analog Studio, HUM) partnered as a Producer on the new record, 'EVERENDING'. As a fan Matt says, "I love Terminus Victor. They deserve a lot more attention!"

PRESS QUOTES:

"You might hear a little Interpol and NIN in there. Not in a derivative way; in a badass way. Their new record ('EVERENDING') is album of the year material." [-Mike Ingram (Exile On Main St Records)]

"The easiest way to describe them is plainly a wall of sound. These guys hit you like a tidal wave and when a song ends, you are left wanting more." [-Brian Campbell]

"Their particular brand of alternative rock shakes the rafters in order to convey their reality, and it works." [-Jeff Zolito (smilepolitely.com)]

Yap Trap

Yap Trap are a super group but, in the sense that you probably don’t know any of the members or any of their previous bands but trust that they have been in many and have spent countless hours ripping through high energy punk rock and roll and miscellaneous. Featuring members of The Dry Look and Bookmobile!, these powerhouse men will “shock and awe” you with their wit and dynamic style, so much so, you will find yourself yelling out “mission accomplished!” If you find these references “in quotes” dated or inscrutable, well just consider that a litmus test that you failed and is not an indication that their “art” is “irrelevant.” Jesus, this writer has really gotten into the “weeds” here. Ugg, just come to a Yap Trap show, Ok?!

Children of the Rat Temple

Children of the Rat Temple is Katt Holiday (guitar, vocals, ceremonies) and Jonathan Nelson (percussion, synth, bass, trumpet, all the rest).

They first met in elementary school, and started their first band (a snotty punk affair) as adolescents. They came up in the DIY scene of Southern Illinois, and though the music is more sonically experimental these days, they maintain the same free-thinking/free-speaking ideals.

Their life-long friendship is inseparable from their musical endeavors and both members bring unique musical tastes to the table (acoustic and electronic elements, EDM, punk rock, cumbia, dub, middle-eastern music, psych, folk, pop, whatever they may find inspiring…) continually evolving and honing the sound.

Incorporating visual storytelling and esoteric spirituality in both lyrical content and stage-craft - Children of the Rat Temple are an experience.
