How it all began…

We were set up by a mutual friend Morgan Matthews (we are so thankful for her). We set our first date as a coffee date even though Daniel doesn’t like coffee (but he did get tea). Daniel recalls the first time he saw Shayla and said to himself “oh I’m in trouble she’s really pretty”. We met at a local coffee shop in Lubbock J&B and spent two hours getting to know each other until it was after 8pm and we were both starving so we went to get dinner. Our first date ended after three+ hours and we were both smitten to say the least. After that we set a second date basically that night because Shayla needed to know there would be a second one. From that point we couldn’t get enough of each other and spent as much time together as we could. We both knew we were in love around the time we went to Disney World. We got to share in the magic of Disney World as well as the magic of saying the words I Love You for the first time. As time went on we met each other’s friends and families and grew even more fond of each other. We shared many laughs and Shayla started many “battles of who was stronger” that she always lost. We both shared in our kindness and compassion for one another and those around us. The biggest thing we shared in is our love for Jesus. As time went on we started to talk about marriage and both knew that it was our desire to be wed and have our happily ever after. Shayla kind of knew it was coming but Daniel threw her off by asking her on a date almost two weeks in advance. We bought tickets to see the Nutcracker and Daniel asked if Shayla wanted to bring her friend Emily to see it with them since she had gone the year before with her. Shayla of course said yes and never thought a thing about it. Daniel then decided that they should take “Christmas Photos” after the Nutcracker since they would be dressed up and they needed a picture for their Christmas ornament they had bought. Daniel suggested Emily take the photos and they go shopping for new outfits. Shayla helped pick out an outfit for Daniel but couldn’t find an outfit for herself she just really loved. Daniel was very pushy about making sure she loved loved it because it would be on their tree for many years to come. Some how Shayla’s friends took her to get her nails done the day before and she found an outfit. The Nutxraker was great as always and they were headed out to take their photos. Thankfully Shayla’s suspicions of the proposal happening disappeared and she was oblivious. While taking the first few photos Shayla was cold and her friends kept telling her to stop looking so cold. She turned around to gather her bearings before taking more photos and when she turned back around she saw Daniel down on one knee. A site she will never forget. Awe struck in surprise Daniel had to ask Shayla to come closer and he popped the question. She said yes!!!! Now they wait for their happily Ever After.
