Fort Collins sits at the base of the mountains, Rocky Mountain National park is just a quick 30-40 minutes away

Red rocks, Aspen, Vail, and Breckenridge are located off of I70 west and only a couple hours away to the south. Medicine Bow peak is a scenic drive an hour north in Wyoming. Boulder and the foothills are about an hour south as well.
