Located in the Heart of Old Town, the Arcade is a super-cool hang-out spot where you can old 80's and 90's arcade games and pinball! If you want to try your hand at Street Fighter or Ms. Pac Man, check it out!
Located close to Downtown, Botanica is Wichita's 20-acre botanical gardens. Botanica has several interesting themed gardens, a Children's garden, and a Butterfly House (which may still be full of butterflies in early June).
Exploration Place is a great, family-oriented Science Museum in the heart of Downtown Wichita. This is a great place to spend the afternoon. Take a walk by the Arkansas River and check out the Keeper of the Plains, the Troll, and several memorials to the Armed Forces nearby.
If you are a snack lover like Andy and Shayn, or enjoy finding candies from years ago that are difficult to find, check out the Nifty Nut House east of Downtown Wichita. They even have a huge selection of sugar-free candies for those who are diabetic. Andy and Shayn suggest getting one of their snack mixes or the Gummy Butterflies.
Located across from the Wichita Art Musuem, Wichita's Old Cowtown Museum is a perfectly-preserved window into the life of Wichita when when it was first settled in the 1860's and 70's. Grab a root beer in the saloon or interact with early Wichita settlers at the various buildings located in the museum.
Old Town is a large shopping, dining, and entertainment district located directly east of Downtown Wichita. There are several great shops and boutiques, breweries, food establishments, concert venues, and bars and clubs within the region.
For Minor League Baseball fans -- the Riverfront Stadium is home to the Wichita Wind Surge. The Stadium is located next to Downtown Wichita off of the Arkansas River. Baseball games will be going on all weekend long.
Andy and Shayn are regular customers at The Spice Merchant -- home to some of the best coffees and teas. This store has every kitchen gadget imaginable, local honey, cooking condiments, spice varieties, oils, syrups, you name it! They would live in this store if it weren't for the fact that they'd be broke from buying everything. :)
Located in the Riverside neighborhood, the Wichita Art Museum has a host of paintings, sculptures, and art installations for a wide-range of arts lovers. The centerpiece of the Museum is the Chihuly Glass Chandelier in the Grand Foyer.
Andy once worked at Simple Simon's/Taco Tico in Medicine Lodge, KS. In 2024, Andy and Shayn discovered that CheeZie's Pizza is part of Simple Simon's parent company! If you would like to order a good, fast food pizza, check it out! It's located downtown, as well as the West and East sides of Wichita. Try their cheese breadsticks with ranch!
If you'd like an affordable breakfast at a delicious "greasy spoon" diner, check out Andy and Shayn's favorite, The Egg Crate Cafe. Located a few miles west of Downtown Wichita, the Egg Crate is a hidden gem that most people overlook. Andy and Shayn suggest trying their Biscuits and Gravy, Egg Meat Frittata, or French Toast with Bacon.
If you love Indian Food, check out the best of Wichita: The Mango Tree. The Mango Tree is nestled near 47th and Broadway (the first exit off I-135 when coming up the I-35 corridor from the south. While Mango Tree can be a little pricey at dinnertime, everything Andy and Shayn have had there has not left them disappointed! Check out their naanchos. <3
If you want DELICIOUS Lebanese food at a reasonable price, check out N&J Cafe and Bakery near Southeast High School. Andy and Shayn love their hummus, baba ganoush, garlic chicken wrap, and falafel. They also have excellent homemade fries! When done eating, check out the bakery and store next to the restaurant. :)
Located near the New Salem Neighborhood (Andy and Shayn's stomping grounds) is Reverie Coffee Roasters. If you like delicious pastries, rolls, and scrumptious coffee, and enjoy light breakfasts, Reverie is a good place for you to get your morning coffee buzz.
Located in the Douglas Design District East of Old Town is a Wichita treasure, Tanya's Soup Kitchen. Tanya was a well-loved local chef who had a knack for creating unique and delectable soups, salads, and sandwiches for the Wichita community. Andy and Shayn recommend trying the Blue Key North, City Chicken, and Cindy the Boy sandwiches. Their soups change daily, but they are all delicious. TSK is good about offering Gluten Free, Vegetarian, and Vegan options for dining.
If you don't mind driving a few minutes, check out Andy and Shayn's favorite Thai restaurant -- Thai Tradition -- in Carriage Parkway (East Wichita). Andy and Shayn argue that this establishment has THE. BEST crab rangoon in the ICT! Some of their favorite dishes are the Pad Thai, Full House, and Yellow Curry.
