The year is 2020 and the world was still shut down so what better way to meet someone than Tinder? Yes, Anthony and Sheila met on Tinder in 2020 and ended up attempting dating while the world was still mainly shut down. In June of 2020, we started talking over the phone much like everything else was being done, like my nursing classes and meetings. By the time July came, we decided to meet up and the dating options were slim to none. Sheila told Anthony to meet at Chubb Park in Chester but due to park restrictions, the park was at capacity. We ended up meeting in the Chester Shop Rite parking lot (how romantic). From there Sheila decided to get in this stranger’s (Anthony’s) car to drive around and get lost together as their first date. Thank God Anthony wasn’t a serial killer. From that point on, we continued to have make-shift dates until we made it official at the end of July. Even though Tinder isn’t typically a place to find love, Anthony and I immediately hit it off and the rest is history.
During our time together on our first date, Anthony’s Oma (grandma) called him and it came over the car speakers. Oma started off by yelling at Anthony for not keeping in touch enough with her and then preceded to interrogate Anthony on his love life. He did what any sound man on a first date would do and told her that he was “working on it.” Oma then asked a million questions about the “said girl” having no idea I was in the car. Anthony was mortified and made me promise I never bring this up again (he said we can tell this story now). As we were dating, Anthony and I went to visit Oma and Opa in Florida. It was an amazing time to bond with his grandparents. Unfortunately, Oma had gotten ill and ended up on hospice shortly afterwards. During that time, Oma had written all her grandchildren a letter. Anthony’s letter instructed him to get married to Sheila that December. In a full circle moment, we got engaged December 10, 2023 and are getting married October 30, 2025. Even though Oma will not be around to celebrate our wedding day in person, we know she will be there in spirit.
Anthony and I met and fell in love in the middle of a pandemic. Here’s to many more years of love and happiness as a married couple and hopefully not have another pandemic in our lifetime.
We are excited to start this journey together to create many more memories and celebrate our love and happiness with all of you.
