We first met in Trigonometry in the spring of 2011 at THE GREAT Bethune Cookman University. Our friendship truly blossomed in the beginning of 2013 as we approached our senior year. We maintained our friendship after graduation and in 2021, it sparked into something more.

The stage was set to be an eventful weekend for Darrell and Shekira as both had planned to be together for Valentine’s Weekend since they were a long distance couple.

Darrell planned one of the days to be a surprise adventure for Shekira. She was unaware that her sister Frankie and niece Kayleigh were helping set up the venue that will prompt the golden question for their future together.

Before leaving for Azalea Park, Darrell placed a blindfold over Shekira's eyes and began a private stream for family and close friends to witness this special moment. On the way there, they reflected on life, fun memories, and future endeavors.

Once the couple arrived, Darrell walked Shekira up to the gazebo and asked “Do you trust me?” while unblindfolding her, he turned Shekira around and before he could ask the question spelled in pink roses she said "Yes, I CAN READ!”. In short she meant yes, she will marry Darrell.
