Our Wedding

“Our Story is one I will always love telling. It’ll always excite me because it was an adventure to get here. It really is amazing to think back to just how we got here, with all the events that has lead to now, and the growth it required to do so. It all started with a video game. I downloaded The World of Magic, a phone MMO RPG game in 2011, and went by the name MsPixi. I met Andy in game, who went by PwnedU, in 2015. We chatted and worked together in the game, quickly becoming best friends and talking non stop. Eventually, myself, Andy, and a few other friends from the game decided to meet up in San Diego for a weekend. I was the only one coming from out of state and lived in Denver, CO at the time for college. While this was definitely a risky choice of mine, it ended up kick starting how the rest of my life would go. I flew out on October 30th, 2015, yes, exactly 10 years ago from the date of our wedding to meet Andy, and our other game friends. We all stayed the weekend at the Bahia Hotel (our now ceremony venue), and it was the most magical time, it’s crazy how that now feels so full circle for Andy and I. We all had so much fun as a group of friends, all continued to meet up several more times over the next year. It felt like I found a group of people who spoke my language. From the beginning, it was like home with Andy. I knew that there was not going to be anyone that could ever come close in comparison to how connected I felt with him. My relationship with Andy developed from a best friend to a romantic relationship over the years, and in early 2017, we became a couple. I made the move from Denver to San Diego right after graduating college, and we moved in together. I had the pleasure to meet Andy’s son, Santi, as well as Santi’s big sister Ayleen, and we then all started the next chapter of life together. Not all love stories are linear, nor are they simple. Ours came to a halt in 2020. We had to tell our loved ones that we were breaking up, and to this day is my most painful memory. We were both deeply heartbroken, but at that time, we could not deny that our paths were not allowing us to continue together. We were young, we had hurdles to overcome and lessons to learn. I moved across the country to North Carolina in 2021 to try and start over. Andy and I did not keep in contact during that time, for a full year and a half, and it was extremely challenging to readjust my life over on the east coast. I now realize that this was a pivotal moment for not only myself, but for Andy. Life quickly landed me back in San Diego again because I wanted to be back near what felt like home, but also near some of my old hobbies. Andy and I ended up reconnecting in early 2023, which is something neither of us expected. We were wiser, grown, had more knowledge and the power of hindsight. We also were in love, and that never ended regardless of where we were. There is something powerful about being able to reconcile: we got to lay out every bit of the past and what we wanted for our future. We got to experience each other in a brand new relationship, fully knowing one another but still learning the best, healthiest way to ensure a lifetime of happiness. We got the opportunity to forgive, which has propelled us over the past few years to places I have only dreamed of. It wasn’t perfect getting here, but it was real. I am a better person because of Andy, and everytime I think I couldn’t possibly love him any more, the love just keeps getting bigger. Our hearts have continued to grow together for ten years, and I can not wait to continue our story: one that began 10/30/2015.” ~Shelby

Santi is the best man and is also the son of the groom. He is 11 years old, an awesome soccer player, skilled at Fortnite, and has a thoughtful heart. Most weekends, Santi, Andy and Shelby are attending his Elite travel soccer games all over Southern California. Andy couldn’t imagine not having his mini me by his side on this most special day to support him.

Amy and Shelby met in college in 2014 at the University of Denver while working at the DU call center. They both found out they had so much in common, studying similar subjects, approaching life similarly and remained close friends after graduation. Amy enjoys Bunco nights with friends, book club and taking photos of neon/vintage signs.

The closest airport is the San Diego airport, which is about ten minutes from the ceremony/reception.   Please let us know if you have any questions about the area, hotels or transportation.   The closest hotel to the reception venue is Humphreys Half Moon Inn. It is 2 minutes across the street from the reception.   The Bahia Resort Hotel is the hotel for the ceremony location. It is about 10-15 minutes of a drive between the ceremony and reception. Please mention our wedding date 10/30/25 and the Shelby Griffin/Andres Ramirez wedding party to receive a 15% discounted stay at the Bahia resort hotel.   There are also plenty of hotels in the mission valley area which is 10 minutes from both venues. We also recommend using Hotwires hot rates hotels to book a discounted hotel in the area.

Travel

Plenty of restaurants, activities and people watching. There is a nice but busy sidewalk that runs down the beach. Belmont Park is located right off the beach with arcade games, mini golf and rides.

A nightly ferry at the Bahia hotel which circles mission bay for appx an hour.

Seals and beautiful ocean sights, Bobboi is a great nearby gelato place, located close to the Cave Store, which takes you down into a cave in the cliffs of the cove.

8a-2pm Several streets of fresh food stands, crafts and food trucks.

Saturday: Little Italy Farmers Market

Very large zoo, (bring your walking shoes and sunscreen!) with many different animals to see. The entire zoo would take about a half day to go through, and there is also a tram that you can take to view the zoo that way if you do not wish to walk the zoo. Located in balboa park near downtown

• Dances hula at the Makani Kai Polynesian Dance Troupe, it’s been almost 6 years! The halau is another family of mine and I have hula sisters for life.  • Loves Pokémon, collects figures, plush, plays all the Pokemon video games, watches the show. It’s my true escape and always will be.   • Musically talented, played violin from age 4-19, and cello from age 12-20.   • Graduated from the University of Denver in 2017 with a bachelors degree in psychology, and minors in business and gender studies.  • Tries to visit as many aquariums as possible, fish are magical and so cool to see. I got my love of fish from my Dad, who has several tanks at home.

About the Bride

• Works on the navy base on Coronado with military airplanes.  • Loves to play Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering with friends.  • Watches and supports Santiago at all the Elite travel soccer games, they are year round and he is the biggest cheerleader in the parent section.  • Enjoys playing PC games on the PC he made. They are not easy to put together but he also put together a pc for both Shelby and Santiago.   • Loves reading books and listening to audio books.
