Matt & I met April 4, 2020. It had only been one week since I packed up my car and decided to move down to Arizona. Matt invited me to go hiking in Sedona. I have never been hiking before so I figured this could go really well or really bad. As my mom says I like to learn things the hard way. So I decided to go on the date and hoped for the best. At 5 a.m. I hopped in the car with a stranger and drove 2 hours to go hike a mountain. I told Matt he was quiet and mysterious during our car ride. He begs to differ. During our hike I fell into a cactus and Matt turned around looked at me and said, "Welcome to Arizona" and he kept hiking. It was in that moment that I secretly hoped he was going to trip over a cactus.
Since we met during the pandemic, everything was shut down so Matt and I got to spend ALOT of quality time together. If I wasn't working at the hospital I was at Matts place making myself right at home. Matt likes to joke around and say that I was a "squatter" during that time. With everything being shut down we had to get creative with our time together. During that time we enjoyed playing bartender and mixing up new cocktails. Working out in the garage or what Matt called "MGM" Matts Gym of Muscle". However, my favorite thing we did during that time was watching youtube videos learning how to swing dance! We stopped learning once we got to the "lawnmower" move. We figured at least one of us would get injured with that move.
We have spent the last 3 years exploring the world together. Life has been an adventure with Matt and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us!
The Edge of the World
On October 1, 2022 Matt took me to a very special place that I have been anxiously awaiting to see. In 2019 Matt was at the edge of the world and had snapped a photo. On that same day he was there I had been day dreaming looking at photos of Arizona and Sedona specifically. Somehow I have the same exact photo with the same exact date and time that Matt had taken his photo. We stumbled upon this discovery early on in our relationship and couldn't figure out how it was possible to not only have the same photo, but that the photo had the same date and time stamp. It was the perfect day and the perfect place when Matt asked for my hand in marriage. We are truly blessed to have found each other and even more blessed to have you all help us celebrate our special day!
