Shelby and Corbin were set-up by Shelby's friend, Elaina, who met Corbin at a party. After talking to Corbin for awhile, she asked if he liked tall brunettes, to which he replied "That is my exact type." Unbeknownst to him, she sent his picture to Shelby and asked if she'd go on a date with him. After receiving a "yes", she asked Corbin if he'd go on a date with her. You'd figure the rest would be history but it doesn't stop there.
Corbin reached out and the date was set. One person was extremely nervous, and the other was not...you guess who. Dinner was at Lounge Here, a moody, retro restaurant near Whiterock Lake in Dallas. Corbin's first impression of Shelby summed up in three words: Beautiful, straight-forward, and talkative. Shelby's first impression of Corbin: Quiet, kind, and gentle.
They proceeded to go on a few more dates, all seemingly well but in the back of Shelby's mind she was thinking that he may be too nice for her. They took a hiatus from going on dates for about a month although Corbin never gave up. He always checked in and continued to pursue her.
On one Wednesday night with the support of his friend, Justin, Corbin sent a last ditch effort text to Shelby. Mitchell Ferguson was playing a show at The Goat, and he thought his dance moves could finally win her over.
THEY DID!
Since then, they've become lifelong two-stepping, travel partners carrying around disposable cameras to document their adventures. Shelby's free-spirited, adventurous personality meshed perfectly with Corbin's easy-going, good time having attitude and it is no surprise they became each other's best friend.
