Shelby and Matthew met through a mutual friend while attending Louisiana Tech University. They befriended each other through friend group hangouts and while playing intramural volleyball together. Matthew asked Shelby on their first date on March 20, 2021 and their relationship blossomed from there. As followers of Jesus Christ, their walk together was also a walk of faith.

Their love story grew throughout college as they became a united couple. In the summer of 2023, Matthew knelt down on one knee and proposed to Shelby on the Mandeville Lakefront along the shoreline among the moss-filled old Oak trees. It was a very easy decision. She obviously said yes!
