Shelby and Jared first met when they started attending middle school together however, it wasn't until their last few years of high school that they became closer friends. Their friendship grew when Shelby got to spend a few weeks in a wheelchair at the beginning of their senior year and since they had very similar schedules Jared was Shelby's official wheelchair driver. Their relationship beyond friendship began when Jared asked Shelby to senior prom and she spent that time convincing her family they were only going as friends. Then a week after prom Jared survived working cattle with Shelby's family and shockingly still chose to stick around. That summer they spent time on the farm and watching movies before Jared went to Drury and Shelby stayed at Butler Community College. Through college, they went through many different distances in their relationship, until Jared eventually ended up at Fort Hays on the shooting team and Shelby was at Kansas State. During that time Shelby would go with Jared to shooting events when possible and Jared would attend dairy goat shows with Shelby. After graduation, Shelby stayed in Manhattan, Kansas, to work while Jared moved back to Towanda, Kansas, to work on the family farm. A little over a month after graduation on June 17, 2023, Jared asked Shelby to marry him and obviously, she said, "Yes!" By the time their wedding rolls around Jared and Shelby will have practiced annoying and supporting each other for over 6 years. They can't wait to see what their future holds together and are so excited to celebrate their joy with you!
