Shelley and Grant's Wedding Weekend in the Wilderness will take place July 24th-July 26th, 2026 at <a href="cpcbsa.org" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Camp Clark</a> on the Oregon Coast. Camp Clark is two hours away from Portland, 20 minutes from Pacific City and a few miles away from the stunning Cape Lookout trail. We are renting the entire camp for the weekend, which includes Adirondack cabins, basic facilities, scenic forest camping and over two miles of Oregon beaches. All guests are encouraged to stay with us for the entire weekend - there's more than enough room for everyone! For more information about the facilities and what to bring, please read the Details section. We have also included lodging advice for anyone who prefers to stay off-site in the Where to Stay section.

Our Wedding

Grant and Shelley first met on Bumble—a modern love story with a twist. Shelley was Grant’s first date, and Grant turned out to be Shelley’s last. Their connection was instant.Their first date took place at a cozy bar called Decibel and Sound on November 16, 2021. What started as a casual meet-up quickly turned into hours of laughter, conversation, shared food, and drinks. As the night came to an end, they exchanged phone numbers—both already curious to see where this could lead.Their second date was quintessentially Portland: a mushroom-hunting adventure in the forest. Grant packed a thoughtful picnic lunch, and Shelley brought along her dog (and made sure her family knew where she was going, just in case). Digging in the dirt for wild mushrooms might not sound romantic to everyone, but for them, it was magic. Shelley was blown away by how much fun she had and impressed by the delicious spread Grant brought along.That same day, they went on their third date—cooking a homemade pasta dinner using the mushrooms they’d foraged earlier. It was clear from that moment on: they were inseparable.Over time, their bond grew into something deep and lasting. Built on trust, love, communication, and a healthy dose of humor, their relationship has been described by friends and family as that of “two peas in a pod.” Whether they’re planning the next big trip or simply sharing a quiet moment, they’re always each other’s favorite adventure buddy.Together, they’ve made countless memories: kayaking through the San Juan Islands, off-grid camping across Oregon, exploring the rugged landscapes of Iceland, protesting for basic human rights and so much more. And on March 26, 2025, surrounded by red rock and desert sky, Grant proposed to Shelley in Capitol Reef National Park.Their journey together is just beginning—but it’s already been one for the books.

Our Story

Shelley and Grant are getting married! Join us as we take over a summer camp for a wedding weekend in the wilderness!Camping is provided for all guests, and we encourage guests to embrace the summer camp vibes and stay on site with us!Camp Clark has 8 large camping areas, each with 10-12 Adirondacks - 2 person wooded tent structures with metal roofs, canvas doors, and wood platform bunks. Each campsite has a shared covered picnic table area, campfire ring, open air flush toilets and handwashing station. If you are planning to stay in an Aridondack, sleeping bags and sleeping pads will be necessary. If you are not able to bring these items, don't worry! Let us know in the RSVP and we will provide these sleeping supplies for you. Tent camping is also available - Guests may set up tents in any of the designated camping areas. Additionally, there is a field that we will designate for tent camping. For vehicle camping, most of the Adirondack pods have parking available. Campervans and small trailers are ok (20ft max), please no large RVs. Vehicle campers will need to park in the central parking lot, and hookups are unfortunately not available. We will designate different camping areas for our various noise-levels. We'll make sure that campsites are reserved for folks that would prefer an earlier and quieter setting. The camp shares a single shower house which contains 20 individual shower rooms with showers, toilets, sinks, mirrors and power outlets. Please plan accordingly when getting ready on Saturday! The campsites do not have electricity. There are outlets available in the showers and in the dining hall for charging devices during the daytime. There is limited cell service at Camp Clark, but we recommend embracing the summer camp theme and leaving your phone off! Friday Night: If you are camping with us on site, please arrive and settle in anytime between 5:00pm and 10:00pm. If you are staying off site, please join us for dinner! We’ll have a Build-Your-Own Farro Bowl dinner starting at 6:30pm. Please BYOB (we’ll have access to a large shared refrigerator, but you may prefer to bring a cooler for your own drinks and essentials).After dinner, we’ll ease into the evening with time to reconnect and unwind with everyone—especially those we haven’t seen in a while. Think campfires, singalongs, storytelling, and all the cozy camp vibes. Please indicate in the RSVP if you will be camping on Friday and/or Saturday nights. Saturday Night Camping: After a night of fun, stay with us and enjoy yourself! If camping is not your thing, please find nearby accommodations on our “Where to Stay” page. Although we encourage you to embrace the summer camp vibe and stay with us the whole weekend, we understand some guests would prefer to stay off-site. We recommend you stay in Pacific City, which is a 20-minute drive from Camp Clark. Pacific City has hotels, a brewery, multiple restaurants and pubs, and a small grocery store. See the 'Where to Stay' tab for links to recommend accommodations. Tillamook is also nearby and has hotel options, but it is inland from Camp Clark and not nearly as scenic as Pacific City and tends to smell like cows (we love Tillamook cheese!) Please note that the drive between Camp Clark and Pacific City/Tillamook involves winding mountain roads that can be very dark at night.If you plan on enjoying a few drinks during the festivities, we highly encourage you to stay onsite for the safest and most relaxing experience.For those heading back, we’ll have a shuttle running from Camp Clark to Pacific City between 9:00pm and 1:00am so you can celebrate without worry.If you choose to take the shuttle, please plan to leave your car at camp and check in your keys with the Camp Counselor—your car will be ready for pickup the following morning on Sunday. Venue Policies:-Smoking of any kind is not allowed at Camp Clark.-No pets allowed on site.-Please be respectful and discreet when consuming alcohol outside of the reception and group meals.-And, as any good camper knows, pack out what you pack in!

If you are arriving from out-of-state, plan to fly into PDX Airport.&nbsp;Car rental is available directly from the airport.&nbsp;Driving from Portland, the easiest route is to take US-26 to OR-6 to Tillamook, then US-101 to Sandlake Road.&nbsp;Sandlake Road will become Cape Lookout Road.&nbsp;Turn left when you see the signs for Camp Meriwether/ Camp Clark.&nbsp;Follow the gravel road for about 1.5 miles (look for our directional signs).&nbsp;You will come to a gate where you will be greeted by our camp ranger, Gary.&nbsp;Continue along the gravel road and follow the signs for parking.If you are camping on Saturday only, please arrive by 2pm so that you have time to get settled into camp with plenty of time before the ceremony.

Our celebration is dressy-casual with a summer camp twist. While it’s July, the Oregon Coast feels more like a cool camp morning than peak Portland summer—expect mid-50s to mid-60s, coastal breezes, and cooler evenings.We recommend camp-chic layers: sweaters, light jackets, shawls, or flannels pair perfectly with dressy-casual outfits. Comfortable shoes are encouraged for walking the grounds, and you’ll be glad to have something warm once the sun sets and the campfire starts.Dress polished, relaxed, and ready for coastal camp vibes 🌲🔥

Dress Code

Want to rough it with us? We have an entire camp to ourselves. This includes about 80 individual tent structures with wood bed platforms. Each camp area includes about 10 structures for sleeping, two outdoor/flush toilets, handwashing station and fire pit. These are rustic/primitive, but a fun way to stay for free if you are up for it! There is also room for people to use their own tents, smaller campers/sprinter vans throughout the property.The camp also includes 20 individual shower/toilet/sink rooms for getting ready. Its a really unique experience that we hope you will share with us! If you are staying with us, no need to book anything! We will have camp sites for you on Friday when you check in.There are 2 family cabins reserved for the bride and groom.

Cape Lookout National Seashore offers a variety of activities for visitors.&nbsp;Popular options include&nbsp;exploring historic Portsmouth Village, climbing the Cape Lookout Lighthouse, enjoying the beaches for swimming, shelling, or sunbathing, and going birding or fishing.&nbsp;It's also a great place for hiking, kayaking, and even hunting.&nbsp;

Munson Creek Falls State Park

Park OverviewThis sandstone headland just north of Pacific City offers one of the best viewpoints on the coast for witnessing the ocean's power. The landmark is one of three along the Three Capes Scenic Route (along with Cape Meares and Cape Lookout).&nbsp;Your steep climb up the towering dune will be rewarded with scenes of waves pummeling rugged, twisting rocks and crevices. The fragile nature of sandstone means the ocean is constantly eroding and re-sculpting the entire scene, right before your eyes.Beyond the fence, the cliff edge can — and will — crumble without warning. It's dangerous, and people have died after climbing over the safety fences. Don’t do it. The views are spectacular from the established viewpoints, on the safe side of the fence.&nbsp;&nbsp;The headland frames Pacific City's popular beach, perfect for kite flying and watching the&nbsp;<a href="https://pcdorymen.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">dory boats</a>. Pacific City is home port to more than 300 of these traditional fishing vessels that have been used for hundreds of years. The city supports this tradition by protecting access at Cape Kiwanda for dory boat launching and hosting the annual&nbsp;<a href="https://tillamookcoast.com/what-to-do/dory-fishing-fleet-dory-days/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Dory Days Parade</a>.&nbsp;Beach Driving RestrictionsThe beach north of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.co.tillamook.or.us/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">county-run</a>&nbsp;parking lot and boat ramp is available for parking by people launching or retrieving a boat. The beach from the county boat ramp is closed to motor vehicles from there south about a quarter mile. Boats may occasionally launch from this area when the area just north of the ramp is unsafe for launching or retrieving boats. All street-legal vehicles are allowed on the beach north of the cape to Tierra Del Mar, and between Pacific Avenue and Porter Point.
