... is sometimes something you think that only happens in books or the movies, but it happened to us and this is our story. In May 2010, Shiloh graduated from Southern Arkansas University. Dina transferred to SAU in August 2010 from Texarkana College . In October 2011, Shiloh went to Homecoming at SAU and met Dina through her group of friends who were all active in the BCM, Baptist Collegiate Ministry.
Our connection was immediately undeniable. We quickly discovered that we had so much in common. One of the first things we discussed was our faith and love for God. We were both active in church - Dina sang at the BCM and Shiloh was in the praise band at her church. Oh and by the way, both of our fathers were part-time, small church, extremely conservative preachers.
We went on to learn that we were both extremely competitive, loved the laugh, enjoyed traveling (especially to theme parks), passionate Razorback fans, avid sweet tea drinkers ... you name it, we had it in common.
In December 2011, two months later, we officially started dating - secretly, of course. No one could know two preachers daughters were dating each other. Both growing up in extremely conservative households, we feared disappointing our parents and facing what we knew they would consider a sinful "lifestyle."
Dina graduated from SAU in the Spring of 2013 and accepted job in the Lafayette County School District - 3 hours from Conway. Many miles were put on vehicles and countless hours spent on the phone and video chatting on Skype. When she accepted the head girls basketball position in Brinkley, Arkansas, we were thrilled because now we would only be an hour and a half apart.
Fast forward to 2018, Dina is offered a job as the White Hall girls basketball assistant coach. She tells me she would only accept if I agree to move in. Both excited and scared, we faced our fears and started making preparations to sell my house in Conway and move to White Hall.
October 14, 2019 - we did the scariest thing we've ever done. We publicly announced our relationship to the world. Coming out was something we had only dreamed of, but never thought we would have the courage to do. We certainly never imagined we would be having the wedding of our dreams.
To everyone who has loved, supported and encouraged us the last few months, THANK YOU! This journey would not have been the same without you.
