July 2020 was a very turbulent time for many people. Covid 19 was running rampant, and its effects were being felt by everyone. Through all the craziness though, some good came out of that year. One day during quarantine, Shobin found himself checking out the dating app Dill Mill, he came across a familiar face. Months prior, Shobin’s mom was talking to her co-worker Priyanka about Shobin. Priyanka mentioned that she knew that her cousin Jency was single, and found a picture of her to show Shobin. When Shobin saw that picture he thought she was beautiful and was trying to figure out a way to contact her without being too forward. However, this day when Shobin came across Jency on Dil Mil, he knew this was the perfect opportunity to talk to Jency and swiped right. To his surprise and delight he got the message that Jency also swiped right on him! They spent a couple of months going from talking on the app, to texting, to talking on the phone for hours. Shobin and Jency then decided that they needed to see each other in person. Shobin flew down to Fort Lauderdale, and from that first date, they both knew they were meant for each other, Shobin asked Jency to be his girlfriend and she said yes! The next year was nothing but laughs, food, and fun. Shobin especially won Jency over with his taste for fine dining. When Jency asked Shobin what his favorite food spot in Chicago was, he had many places he could have chosen from but he got nervous and said Bone Fish Grill. (Even though it wasn’t his favorite spot) Jency and Shobin being from different states, one question remained for their long term future. Where would they live? For Shobin this was an easy decision, and he chose to take a job at the Miami VA and make the move to South Florida. On 11/6/2021 Shobin decided to make the best decision of his life and asked Jency to be his wife. Both of them and their families could not be happier, and they can’t wait to get married in November!
